Reactive Power Compensation by Static Synchronous Series Compensator

2016 International Conference on Micro-Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ICMETE), 2016
The dynamic result of static synchronous series compensator is presented in this paper. A voltage source inverter equipped with a dc source is used as an SSSC (static synchronous series compensator) to examine the effect of this device in controlling the power flow through transmission line.

Cascaded Multilevel Inverter-Based Asymmetric Static Synchronous Compensator of Reactive Power [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry, 2022
The topology of the static synchronous compensator of reactive power for a low-voltage three-phase utility grid capable of asymmetric reactive power compensation in grid phases has been proposed and analysed. It is implemented using separate, independent

On reactive power compensation

1995 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Intelligent Systems for the 21st Century, 2002
This paper presents a rigorous optimal design scheme for sizing and locating shunt capacitors for reactive power compensation, ohmic loss reduction, demand charge, and energy charge savings in distribution networks. This scheme is novel in introducing a practical non-heuristic or explicit search technique as is commonly reported in the literature ...

Reactive power compensation by EPSO technique

2010 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2010
This paper presents a methodology to address reactive power compensation using Evolutionary Particle Swarm Optimization (EPSO) technique programmed in the MATLAB environment. The main objective is to find the best operation point minimizing power losses with reactive power compensation, subjected to all operational constraints, namely full AC power ...

Dynamic reactive power compensator (DRPC) for unbalance load reactive power compensation

2013 IEEE 8th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems, 2013
Unbalance in power system caused by the addition of single phase and dynamically varying loads are unavoidable. Due to this reason the load reactive power is no longer balanced, which causes voltage fluctuation, line overloading and high transmission line losses.
