Optimal Reactive Power Control in Hybrid Power Systems
Electric Power Components and Systems, 2012Abstract Optimal reactive power flow accounts for the major reduction in active power loss as well as more stable system operation. This article presents a novel model for optimal reactive power flow in hybrid power systems. Hybrid systems consist of an AC-DC system and flexible AC transmission system devices.

Decentralized Reactive Power Control of Wind Power Plants
2012 IEEE International Energy Conference and Exhibition (ENERGYCON), 2012Wind power is a rising renewable resource in the energy portfolio worldwide. A huge research effort has been applied for the efficiency of the wind turbines, i.e. for the real power injections maximization; on the other hand, reactive resources exploitation still need a deep investigation.

Reactive power control for real power-loss minimization
IEEE Computer Applications in Power, 1988An accurate and fast technique for real-time control of system voltage and reactive power of large-scale power systems is presented. The one-bus-away method has been modified to obtain accurate results with moderate computer requirements for online application to large-scale power networks.

Reactive Power Control in Wind Power Plants
2017Studies in this chapter have been performed on the interaction between wind farm, reactive power compensation, and the power system network. The fluctuation of the loads and the output of wind turbine units in power system have made the reactive power compensation an effective procedure.

Optimal reactive power control for industrial power networks
Conference Record of 1998 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Third IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.98CH36242), 1999In addition to process steam and real power demands, manufacturing processes also have a varying reactive power demand that must be satisfied. Reactive power affects line currents and bus voltages, as well as power factor of the tie-line bringing power into the industrial plant from the local utility. The local utility applies a penalty if the tie-line

Reactivity and Power Shape Control
Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1977An optimization method, based on linear programming, has been developed that determines the enrichment distribution in a multizone reactor such that the desired power distribution is achieved at beginning-of-life conditions, as well as the poison distribution during reactor operation such that the reactor is kept critical and the desired power ...

OPTIMAL CONTROL OF VOLTAGE AND REACTIVE POWER OF POWER SYSTEM
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1987Abstract In this paper, from the view point of economy and security of a power system, a synthetic mathematical model is presented for minimizing system losses and improving voltage level. At the same time, it is taken into account that when the reactive power is insufficient or it is hard to operate the system normally, the system will be supplied ...

Distributed Reactive Power Control
Distributed Energy Management of Electrical Power Systems, 2020This chapter discusses two types of the reactive power control methods. The first method is based on the well‐known artificial intelligence algorithm, Q‐learning algorithm. The second method is based on the distributed sub‐gradient algorithm.
