IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1987This paper determines the loadability of a 500 kV series-compensated transmission line that are consistent with available var reserves taking into consideration the distributed nature of the line parameters and the effects of load-voltage characteristics and transformer taps at the load end.

Incorporating generator reactive power limits into constrained-genetic-algorithm load flow
APSCOM-97. International Conference on Advances in Power System Control, Operation and Management, 1997This paper develops a method to deal with the generator reactive power limits in a genetic algorithm-based environment. In this method, the limits are treated as inequality constraints. The developed method for treating the reactive power limits and the technique usually adopted in Newton-Raphson load flow are compared.
