Reactive Power Optimal Control of a Wind Farm for Minimizing Collector System Losses

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
A reactive power/voltage control strategy is proposed that uses wind turbines as distributed reactive power sources to optimize the power flow in large-scale wind farms and reduce the overall losses of the collector system.

Hybrid fuzzy particle swarm optimization approach for reactive power optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents a new approach to the optimal reactive power planning based on fuzzy logic and particle swarm optimization (PSO). The objectives are to minimize real power loss and to improve the voltage profile of a given interconnected power system.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Optimal reactive power and voltage control in regional power grids using temporal segmentation of wind and PV generation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
To address the issues of excessive active power losses, significant voltage fluctuations, and persistently high reactive power costs as well as environmental protection costs in regional power grids caused by high-proportion renewable energy integration,

An Efficient Reactive Power Control Method for Power Network Systems with Solar Photovoltaic Generators Using Sparse Optimization

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
With the incremental introduction of solar photovoltaic (PV) generators into existing power systems, and their fast-growing share in the gross electricity generation, system voltage stability has become a critical issue.

A Sufficient Condition for Power Flow Insolvability with Applications to Voltage Stability Margins

open access: yes, 2012
For the nonlinear power flow problem specified with standard PQ, PV, and slack bus equality constraints, we present a sufficient condition under which the specified set of nonlinear algebraic equations has no solution.

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.
