Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Adaptive Coordination of Distributed Energy Resources in Lossy Power Distribution Systems

open access: yes, 2018
This paper is concerned with the problem of coordinating a set of distributed energy resources (DERs) in a lossy power distribution system to provide frequency regulation services to a bulk power grid with the explicit consideration of system losses.

Reactive Power Optimization Using Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science, 2012
Problem statement: The problem of controlling a power system is not an easy task; it is subjected to various constraints. There are at risks of voltage instability problems due to highly stressed operating conditions caused by increased load demand and other constraints in the power system network.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Reactive Power Optimization Control for Renewable Energy in Distribution Networks Considering Active Power Uncertainties

open access: yesZhongguo dianli
A dual-layer robust optimization control method based on the droop principle of reactive power and voltage is proposed for renewable energy in distribution networks, considering active power uncertainties. First, in the reference-point optimization layer,

Optimal Ensemble Control of Loads in Distribution Grids with Network Constraints

open access: yes, 2018
Flexible loads, e.g. thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs), are technically feasible to participate in demand response (DR) programs. On the other hand, there is a number of challenges that need to be resolved before it can be implemented in practice ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.
