Advanced localized reactive power sharing in microgrids

Electric Power Systems Research, 2017
Abstract The droop characteristics have gained much attention for controlling the distributed generation (DG) units in an islanded microgrid, since they obviate the requirements for communication infrastructure and have relatively fast response time.

An Improved Reactive Power Sharing Method for an Islanded Microgrid

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2019
Conventional droop control is traditionally used for achieving proportional power sharing in an islanded microgrid. Active power-sharing becomes proportional to the ratings of the inverters by applying the conventional droop control. However, reactive power-sharing is not proportional because of unequal line impedances and asymmetric load distribution ...

Reactive Power Sharing Analysis in Islanded AC Microgrids

2019 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2019 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe), 2019
Primary regulation of islanded Microgrids is one of the most relevant topics in an academic and industrial world. IEEE Std 1547-2018 defines the functionalities of GridSupporting inverters and one of the control goals is the correct reactive power sharing.

Adaptive Virtual Impedance Consensus Control for Reactive Power Sharing

2020 IEEE Kansas Power and Energy Conference (KPEC), 2020
This paper presents a new control method to ensure effective reactive power sharing in islanded microgrids with multiple distributed generator units (DG units) under mismatched feeder line conditions. A detailed mathematical model of primary and secondary control levels of a hierarchical control are designed to ensure accurate active and reactive power

Resilience for Communication Faults in Reactive Power Sharing of Microgrids

IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2021
In this paper, we consider the distributed reactive power sharing control problem for an autonomous inverter-based microgrid with resilience for communication faults, which may be caused by partial communication link failures or some channel manipulation attacks.

Enhanced Active and Reactive Power Sharing in Islanded Microgrids

IEEE Systems Journal, 2020
The intermittency of renewable energy makes the control of islanded microgrids more difficult than that of the grid-connected mode. In conventional methods, the controller is designed to regulate the system frequency and voltage only based on the droop control theory.

Distributed-based reactive power sharing in islanded microgrid

2017 Chinese Automation Congress (CAC), 2017
This paper proposed an adaptive impedance control method in multi-bus distributed islanded micrigrid to share reactive power accurately and suppress circulating current. The multi-bus distributed microgrid is more complicated than one-bus because of its different bus voltages and variable structure.

An Enhanced Islanding Microgrid Reactive Power, Imbalance Power, and Harmonic Power Sharing Scheme

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2015
To address inaccurate power sharing problems in autonomous islanding microgrids, an enhanced droop control method through online virtual impedance adjustment is proposed. First, a term associated with DG reactive power, imbalance power, or harmonic power is added to the conventional real power-frequency droop control.

A Voltage-Droop-free Reactive Power Sharing Solution in Microgrids

2020 IEEE 9th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC2020-ECCE Asia), 2020
The proper active and reactive power sharing is one of the fundamental control targets for distributed generators in microgrids. Currently, the most common solution is to use the active power-frequency (P-f) and reactive power-voltage (Q-V) droop control.

Accurate Reactive Power Sharing in Renewable-Prioritized Islanded Microgrids

2019 21st European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE '19 ECCE Europe), 2019
An accurate reactive power sharing scheme aiming to prioritize renewable sources is proposed and implemented under modified droop control in islanded microgrids. In order to improve reactive power sharing accuracy, an interfacing inductor and grid voltage estimation strategy is used. Simulation and experimental results show the efficacy of the approach.
