Stability of Reactor Control Systems in Coupled Core Reactors
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1971For combating not only general deviations in total power, but localized flux (power) perturbations as well, separate control systems are designed for separate cores of the coupled-core reactor. In this paper conditions are obtained for global asymptotic stability of a coupled core reactor including its control system.

This chapter addresses the simulation flow chart that is currently used for reactor-physics simulations. The methodologies presented are more appropriate to the context of power reactors, and the chapter focuses particularly on the three-dimensional (3D) aspect of core calculations.

The reprocessing of reactor core materials
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2014Abstract Generation IV high temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGR) are preferentially fueled by spherical fuel elements, which are composed of a fuel zone of triso-coated uranium oxide (UO 2 ) particles and a matrix graphite layer. Unqualified coated particles and spherical fuel elements unavoidablely occur during the processing of coating UO 2 ...

Heat release in the reactor core
2009Chapter 1 contains introductory information about the heat release in the reactor core, the thermal power and thermal power density in the fuel, structures and moderator, the influence of the thermal power density on the coolant temperature, and the spatial distribution of the thermal power density.

Workshop “Modelling of Small Reactor Cores”
1985There was general agreement that the modelling was satisfactory in the core away from large disturbances such as control absorbers, or experimental assemblies. However close to such assemblies, or in the reflector the situation was far from satisfactory.

The application of the saturated-core reactor and regulator
Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1924The purpose of this paper is to state briefly the use of voltage regulators and reactors in transmission and distribution systems and to mention operating requirements which might be best met by the use of saturated-core type regulators or reactors. The saturated-core type regulator and reactor consists of an iron core with two sets of coils.

In-core temperature control of nrx reactors
Propulsion Joint Specialist Conference, 1965T obtain a maximum specific impulse from the nuclear rocket engine, the reactor is run at as high a temperature as possible within the thermal limits of the core and its structural components. Thermocouples located within selected unfueled elements in the core of the reactor provide the sensing for a reactor temperature control loop that acts as a trim

By the beginning of work in the 1960s, information on the properties and manufacturing technology of materials for the NRE core (based on zirconium, niobium, uranium carbides, and zirconium hydride) was absent or inconsistent. It was known that unlike mono compound of uranium with a low melting point (2,500 K), a fuel based on solid solutions of UC–ZrC

The Detection of Reactor Antineutrinos for Reactor Core Monitoring: an Overview
Nuclear Data Sheets, 2014Abstract There have been new developments in the field of applied neutrino physics during the last decade. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed interest in the potentialities of antineutrino detection as a new tool for reactor monitoring and has created an ad hoc Working Group in late 2010 to follow the associated research and ...

Ultrasonic NDE in a reactor core
2011 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, 2011We have irradiated bulk single crystal piezoelectric AlN operating as an ultrasonic transducer up to a fast and thermal neutron fluence of 1.85X1018 n/cm2 and 5.8X1018 n/cm2 respectively along with a gamma dose of 26.8 MGy. Our primary interest was in the radiation effects on the piezoelectric performance of the AlN crystal. Ideally standard procedures
