Physics Today, 1959
As I perused several back issues of Physics Today to get some feeling for how symposia were being reported, it soon became obvious that there just is no other conference like the Geneva “Atoms for Peace” Conference. More than 2000 papers were submitted for the proceedings.

Nuclear reactor health physics
1980The discovery of fission in 1938 provided the basis of a new source of energy potentially greater than the entire world reserves of fossil fuels. The development of nuclear energy has been quite rapid. The first fission reactor was operated in a converted squash court in Chicago in 1942 by Enrico Fermi.
