On Computability of Computable Problems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Computational problems are classified into computable and uncomputable problems. If there exists an effective procedure (algorithm) to compute a problem then the problem is computable otherwise it is uncomputable. Turing machines can execute any algorithm therefore every computable problem is Turing computable.

Computer Architectures to Close the Loop in Real-time Optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
© 2015 IEEE.Many modern control, automation, signal processing and machine learning applications rely on solving a sequence of optimization problems, which are updated with measurements of a real system that evolves in time.

Dimensioning the MAORY real time computer

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2016
The MAORY system is the Multi-Adaptive Optics module for the European Extremely Large Telescope first light. MAORY should provide high and homogeneous image quality over the MICADO Field of View (about 1 arcmin diameter) and still an acceptable correction up to the 3 arcmin technical Field of View.

Clinical applications of next‐generation sequencing‐based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

On real-time and non real-time distributed computing

open access: yes, 1995
In this paper, taking an algorithmic viewpoint, we explore the differences existing between the class of non real-time computing problems (ℵℜ) versus the class of real-time computing problems (ℜ). We show how a problem in class ℜ can be transformed into its counterpart in class ℵℜ. Claims of real-time behavior made for solutions to problems in class ℵℜ

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

A Distributed Computing Real-Time Safety System of Collaborative Robot

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika, 2020
Robotization has become common in modern factories due to its efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Lots of robots and manipulators share their workspaces with humans what could lead to hazardous situations causing health damage or even death.

KRAS and GNAS mutations in cell‐free DNA and in circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms—an observational pilot study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Real-Time scheduling: from hard to soft real-time systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Real-time systems are traditionally classified into hard real-time and soft real-time: in the first category we have safety critical real-time systems where missing a deadline can have catastrophic consequences, whereas in the second class we find systems or which we need to optimise the Quality of service provided to the user.
