Long‐Range Interactions in Topological Superconducting Systems: A Mini Review
Long‐range interacting quantum systems are surveyed in this review, with an emphasis on the long‐range topological superconductor and its variants. Long‐range interactions decaying in a power‐law manner can lead to exotic phenomena that finds no analogue in short‐range regimes.

Some aspects of complexity in real algebraic geometry
This paper gives a description of some aspects of complexity in real algebraic geometry: explicit bounds for the topology of real algebraic and semi-algebraic sets are given in term of the degree of the equations and inequations (results by Milnor-Thom),

Multiplication polynomials and relative Manin-Mumford [PDF]
After the introduction we prove in chapter 2 that the resultant of the standard multiplication polynomials $A_n,B_n$ of an elliptic curve in the form $y^2 = x^3+ax+b$ is $(16\Delta)^{{n^2(n^2-1) \over 6}}$, where $\Delta=-(4a^3+27b^2)$ is the ...

Risk‐aware safe reinforcement learning for control of stochastic linear systems
Abstract This paper presents a risk‐aware safe reinforcement learning (RL) control design for stochastic discrete‐time linear systems. Rather than using a safety certifier to myopically intervene with the RL controller, a risk‐informed safe controller is also learned besides the RL controller, and the RL and safe controllers are combined together ...

Formulating problems for real algebraic geometry [PDF]
We discuss issues of problem formulation for algorithms in real algebraic geometry, focussing on quantifier elimination by cylindrical algebraic decomposition.

On structural controllability in complex networks with periodic switching topologies
Abstract This paper investigates the structural controllability of complex networks with periodic switching topologies. First, several graph transformations that preserve structural controllability are demonstrated. Based on the n‐walk theory, a criterion is derived that determines structural controllability by analyzing only the joint graph within a ...

Bayesian inverse ensemble forecasting for COVID‐19
Abstract Variations in strains of COVID‐19 have a significant impact on the rate of surges and on the accuracy of forecasts of the epidemic dynamics. The primary goal for this article is to quantify the effects of varying strains of COVID‐19 on ensemble forecasts of individual “surges.” By modelling the disease dynamics with an SIR model, we solve the ...

Competitive Equilibria in Semi-Algebraic Economies [PDF]
This paper examines the equilibrium correspondence in Arrow-Debreu exchange economies with semi-algebraic preferences. We show that a generic semi-algebraic exchange economy gives rise to a square system of polynomial equations with finitely many ...

Stability of Viscous Three‐Dimensional Stratified Couette Flow via Dispersion and Mixing
ABSTRACT This article explores the stability of stratified Couette flow in the viscous 3d$3d$ Boussinesq equations. In this system, mixing effects arise from the shearing background, and gravity acts as a restoring force leading to dispersive internal gravity waves.

Real tropicalization and analytification of semialgebraic sets.
I will define and discuss the tropicalization and analytification of semialgebraic sets. We show that the real analytification is homeomorphic to the inverse limit of real tropicalizations, analogously to a result of Payne.
