Bounding the Betti numbers of real tropical varieties.
Real tropical varieties are polyhedral objects which are in some cases isotopic to real algebraic varieties. We will introduce those objects and show an upper bound on their Betti numbers.

Invariants of real symplectic 4-manifolds and lower bounds in real enumerative geometry
International audienceWe first build the moduli spaces of real rational pseudo-holomorphic curves in a given real symplectic 4-manifold. Then, following the approach of Gromov and Witten [3, 19, 11], we define invariants under deformation of real ...

Colourings of Uniform Group Divisible Designs and Maximum Packings
ABSTRACT A weak c $c$‐colouring of a design is an assignment of colours to its points from a set of c $c$ available colours, such that there are no monochromatic blocks. A colouring of a design is block‐equitable, if for each block, the number of points coloured with any available pair of colours differ by at most one.

On the geometry, topology and approximation of amoebas
We investigate multivariate Laurent polynomials f \in \C[\mathbf{z}^{\pm 1}] = \C[z_1^{\pm 1},\ldots,z_n^{\pm 1}] with varieties \mathcal{V}(f) restricted to the algebraic torus (\C^*)^n = (\C \setminus \{0\})^n.

Rigorous Electromagnetic Quasinormal‐Mode Method Made Easy for Users
We present a method that combines numerical techniques with accurate approximations to enable simple and ultrafast computations of the scattered field based on quasinormal modes expansions. The method is made available in the open‐source package MANlite implemented within COMSOL.

Analysis of Randomized Algorithms in Real Algebraic Geometry [PDF]
Consider the problem of computing at least one point in each connected component of a smooth real algebraic set. This is a basic and important operation in real and semi-algebraic geometry: it gives an upper bound on the number of connected components of

Theory of Supercritical Coupling and Generalized Bound States in the Continuum
We develop a general theory of supercritical coupling and generalized bound states in the continuum (gBICs), revealing how interference between radiative and absorptive channels enables quality factors beyond conventional material‐loss limits. The framework unifies non‐Hermitian mode coupling, causality‐driven reactive interactions, and interference ...

Some quantitative results in real algebraic geometry
Real algebraic geometry is the study of semi-algebraic sets, subsets of Rk defined by boolean combinations of polynomial equalities and inequalities. The focus of this thesis is to study quantitative results in real algebraic geometry, primarily upper ...

From combinatorial optimization to real algebraic geometry and back
In this paper, we explain the relations between combinatorial optimization and real algebraic geometry with a special focus to the quadratic assignment problem.

ABSTRACT Porous gas bearings (PGBs) enable high‐speed, oil‐free operation in modern rotating machinery. This study develops a coupled thermo‐hydrodynamic (THD) model for a cylindrical porous gas bearing lubricated with four working fluids—air, R‐134a, helium and hydrogen.
