Systematic Exploration of 3D Concrete Printing Parameters for Conformal Printing on Sloped Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A conformal slicing algorithm is developed for robotic 3D concrete printing (3DCP) on sloped surfaces as a first step toward printing slab‐on‐grade foundations on uneven terrain. Systematic experiments quantify the effects of nozzle speed, extrusion rate, and toolpath direction on filament dimension and stability.

Reduction of global interference in functional multidistance near-infrared spectroscopy using empirical mode decomposition and recursive least squares: a Monte Carlo study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2011
Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a sensitive technique that has the potential to detect haemodynamic changes during the performance of specific activation tasks.

AutomataGPT: Transformer‐Based Forecasting and Ruleset Inference for Two‐Dimensional Cellular Automata

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce AutomataGPT, a generative pretrained transformer (GPT) trained on synthetic spatiotemporal data from 2D cellular automata to learn symbolic rules. Demonstrating strong performance on both forward and inverse tasks, AutomataGPT establishes a scalable, domain‐agnostic framework for interpretable modeling, paving the way for future ...

The recursive Green's function method for graphene

open access: yes, 2013
We describe how to apply the recursive Green's function method to the computation of electronic transport properties of graphene sheets and nanoribbons in the linear response regime.

Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum for Image Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum (SHWB), a rotation‐ and translation‐invariant descriptor that captures higher‐order (phase) correlations in signals, is introduced. Combining wavelet scattering, bispectral analysis, and group theory, SHWB achieves interpretable, data‐efficient representations and demonstrates competitive performance across texture,

Data-Driven Koopman Operator-Based Model Predictive Control with Adaptive Dictionary Learning for Nonlinear Industrial Process Optimization

open access: yesMathematics
Nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) delivers high tracking accuracy for industrial processes but requires solving a nonlinear program at each sampling instant, limiting its applicability under tight real-time constraints.

Learning Time-Varying Graphs From Online Data

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing, 2022
This work proposes an algorithmic framework to learn time-varying graphs from online data. The generality offered by the framework renders it model-independent, i.e., it can be theoretically analyzed in its abstract formulation and then instantiated ...

Counting statistics of transport through Coulomb blockade nanostructures: High-order cumulants and non-Markovian effects

open access: yes, 2010
Recent experimental progress has made it possible to detect in real-time single electrons tunneling through Coulomb blockade nanostructures, thereby allowing for precise measurements of the statistical distribution of the number of transferred charges ...

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...
