ABSTRACT The design of compliant mechanisms with integrated actuation requires consistent treatment of structural topology, actuator dimensions, and actuator placement. This work presents a coupled optimization framework based on modal formulations that combines the optimization of structural topology and linear actuators into a unified design approach.

Geometry in transformation optics can be extended to control quantum–thermal fluctuations, enabling redistribution of energy, entropy, and Casimir pressure in dissipative metamaterials. ABSTRACT A novel concept, quantum thermodynamic transformation optics (QTTO), is introduced as a theoretical framework integrating transformation optics with ...

Nitride MXenes remain constrained by a persistent gap between computational prediction and experimental realization. This Review identifies the thermodynamic, kinetic, and chemical barriers limiting their synthesis, critically evaluates emerging fabrication routes, and proposes a multidimensional computational‐experimental framework to accelerate the ...

Limits to the Hall Effect and Other Nonreciprocal Effects in Three‐Dimensional Metamaterials
Comprehensive and fundamental bounds on nonreciprocal effects in three‐dimensional metamaterials are derived. They reveal that the effective Hall mobility cannot exceed the largest constituent mobility, that, under certain conditions, the Verdet constant cannot be enhanced, and that, for constituents with Hall coefficients of the same sign, the largest
