Damage‐Free Full‐Thickness Dicing of Ultra‐Thin GaAs Wafers Using a Femtosecond Laser with Low Residual Stress

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
This study presents a femtosecond laser‐based ultrashort pulse dicing system that uses a non‐diffracting Bessel beam to shape the femtosecond laser. The use of femtosecond Bessel beam shaping and high‐speed scanning enables rapid material removal that outpaces thermal diffusion, thereby suppressing melting, minimizing the HAZ, and reducing sidewall ...

Screw‐Dislocation‐Engineered Quantum Dot: Geometry‐Tunable Nonlinear Optics, Orbital Qubit Addressability, and Torsion Metrology

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 2, February 2026.
A uniform torsion field—representing a controlled density of parallel screw dislocations—confines a single electron into a geometry‐defined quantum dot. In a perpendicular magnetic field, an Aharonov–Bohm flux breaks the m↔−m$m \leftrightarrow -m$ symmetry and yields a flux‐ and torsion‐tunable angular pseudospin (m=±1)$(m = \pm 1)$ with asymmetric ...

The Genetic and Morphological Basis of Local Adaptation to Elevational Extremes in an Alpine Finch

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We investigated morphological and genetic variation in the Sierra Nevada Gray‐crowned Rosy Finch to identify traits important for local adaptation in alpine environments. By combining trait measurements with genome‐wide analyses, we uncovered loci linked to thermoregulation, altitude adaptation, and cold tolerance.

Anticipating Climate Change Along the Land–Sea Continuum: Why Policy and Organisational Dynamics Matter

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 51-65, February 2026.
ABSTRACT How the organisational dimension of public policy influences climate change anticipation is a critical, yet underexplored, question. This is especially so at the local scale where many climate‐related interests are brokered. In this article, we argue that any analysis of the influence of de‐centralised organisations on climate change ...

Mapping Quantum Computing Techniques for NP‐Hard Problems in Operations Management and Operations Research

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
Quantum computing techniques such as Quantum Annealing and Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization are effectively solving NP‐hard problems in operations management and research, particularly in logistics, manufacturing, and finance. This study maps these applications to present a framework for future adoption across industries. ABSTRACT This study
