A Cognitive Algorithm for Received Signal Strength Based Localization

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2015
In this paper, we propose a method to localize a wireless and stationary blind node based on received signal strength measurements; the positioning scheme relies on the statistical path loss model. The operating environment is either non-homogeneous, i.e., the attenuation factors of the various links are different, or homogeneous, i.e., all links share

Distributed target localization using quantized received signal strength

Signal Processing, 2017
In this paper, we propose a distributed gradient algorithm for received signal strength based target localization using only quantized data. The Maximum Likelihood of the Quantized RSS is derived and Particle Swarm Optimization is used to provide an initial estimate for the gradient algorithm.

Geolocation From Received Signal Strength

2018 52nd Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2018
Radio frequency transmitter geolocation has been addressed by many techniques. The approach presented in this paper uses received signal strength measurements to estimate transmitter locations, which can be obtained with relatively simple hardware. Several algorithms are described that do received signal strength-based geolocation and are tested on ...
