Distributed target localization using quantized received signal strength

Signal Processing, 2017
In this paper, we propose a distributed gradient algorithm for received signal strength based target localization using only quantized data. The Maximum Likelihood of the Quantized RSS is derived and Particle Swarm Optimization is used to provide an initial estimate for the gradient algorithm.

A received signal strength indication-based localization system

21st Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation, 2013
Localization using the received signal strength indication (RSSI) of wireless local area networks with a priori knowledge of the coordinates of the routers/access points is addressed in this paper. The proposed algorithm employs a path loss model that allows for the inclusion of the logarithmic measurements of the signal strength directly in the state ...

Location based services using received Signal Strength algorithms

2015 Internet Technologies and Applications (ITA), 2015
A comparison is carried out among indoor localization algorithms using received signal strength, namely the vector algorithm, and the Modified Comparative Received Signal Strength (MCRSS) algorithm. The study considered comparisons on the performance of the proposed algorithms.

Robust Indoor Positioning Based on Received Signal Strength

2007 2nd International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications, 2007
A positioning algorithm based on the relative order of the received signal strengths is discussed. This algorithm in conjunction with the ray-tracing propagation model can have promising performance for indoor environments without any needs for extensive set of a priori training.

Three dimensional location detection using received signal strength

2013 International Conference on Signal Processing , Image Processing & Pattern Recognition, 2013
In this paper an algorithm has been proposed based on Hata model that employs an improved procedure in detecting the mobile location in three dimensional environment using received signal strength (RSS). This technique considers path loss and shadowing effect for the channel to compute the distance between the mobile phone and its home base station and

A Low Power Received Signal Strength Indicator for Short Distance Receiver

2013
A low power received signal strength indicator (RSSI) with limiter amplifier (LA) and an integrated automatic gain control (AGC) loop are fabricated in SMIC 0.13 μm technology for short distance receiver. The proposed limiter achieves minimum power dissipation which uses six-stage amplifier architecture.

Received signal strength based localization in sensor network

2010 IEEE 18th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference, 2010
In this paper, we present the accuracy of location engine of CC2431 ZDK development kit which is widely used in sensor network localization problems. Initially, distance vs received signal strength indicator graph has been established, then accuracy of location engine and Cayley-Menger based localization algorithm have been compared.

Collision detection using received signal strength in FANETs

2014 International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (ICUAS), 2014
Autonomous vehicles are important to execute missions without the need to put at risk people's life. To achieve this goal, it is essential that these vehicles are endowed of a collision avoidance system. In this study we discuss the use of received signal strength (RSS) of beacons from a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) as a way to detect dangerous ...
