Vibration and sound radiation of a rotating train wheel subject to a vertical harmonic wheel–rail force

open access: yesJournal of Modern Transportation, 2018
The rapid development of high-speed railway networks requires advanced methods for analysing vibration and sound radiation characteristics of a fast rotating train wheel subject to a vertical harmonic wheel–rail force.

Interpolation-Based Modeling Methodology for Efficient Aeroelastic Control of a Folding Wing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2021
The aeroelastic model of a folding wing varies with different configurations, so it actually represents a parameter-varying system. Firstly, a new approach based on interpolation of local models is proposed to generate the linear parameter-varying model ...

Adaptive Feedforward Vibration Control of Helicopter Cabin Floor Driven by Piezoelectric Stack Actuators: Modeling, Simulation and Experiments

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Active control of structural response is the most practical and effective approach to mitigate helicopter vibration and enhance ride quality. In this paper, adaptive feedforward vibration control is constructed for the helicopter cabin floor driven by piezoelectric stack actuators (PSAs).

Influence of the rail dampers on the frequencydomain response of the rail

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Rail dampers are mechanical devices mounted at both sides of the rail web aiming to reduce the vibration along the rail. In this way, a shorter length of the rail vibrates effectively and the rolling noise is less intense.

Synthesis of Robust Control for a Class of Nonlinear Systems With Parametric Uncertainties Through Modified Input‐Output Linearization via Feedback With Linear‐Nonlinear Decomposition

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The article describes an alteration of the traditional method of input‐output feedback linearization by applying a linear‐nonlinear decomposition of a system. The modified method makes it possible to obtain an equivalent linear model of the system in the presence of parametric uncertainties and disturbances.

Closed‐Form Design and Understanding of Vertical Inerter–Based Dampers for Wind Turbines

open access: yesStructural Control and Health Monitoring, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Wind turbines with larger capacities face bending deformation due to taller towers and longer blades, necessitating mitigation against extreme seismic loads. A vertically installed inerter‐based damper, referred to as the tuned viscous mass damper (TVMD), is proposed alongside a closed‐form design approach.

Iterative receptance method for determining harmonic response of structures with symmetrical non-linearities

open access: yes, 1993
Although there are several techniques available for the harmonic vibration analysis of non-linear systems, the application of these methods to multi-degree of freedom systems is rather limited.

Receptance-based partial eigenstructure assignment by state feedback control

open access: yes, 2022
The partial eigenvalue assignment problem has drawn much attention for decades because of its usefulness and fascinating appeal in vibration control. It is also a mathematically challenging problem, particularly when the mathematical description is cast ...
