High‐Yield Synthesis of Fe‐NC Electrocatalysts Using Mg2+ Templating and Schiff‐Base Porous Organic Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fe─NC porous oxygen reduction electrocatalysts are prepared employing a 2,4,6‐Triaminopyrimidine‐based porous organic polymer, a Mg2+ Lewis acid, and a low‐temperature cation exchange protocol. Using the polymer precursor achieves high pyrolysis yields and results in atomically dispersed FeNx sites. The resulting catalysts feature hierarchical porosity

Diffusion-controlled reaction rates for clusters of binding sites on a cell

open access: yesAIMS Biophysics, 2016
The Berg-Purcell expression for the diffusion-controlled binding rate to N sites uniformly distributed on the surface of a sphere is generalized to clusters of receptors located at the poles of a cell.

Oral Dosed Organo‐Silica Nanoparticles Restore Glucose Homeostasis and β‐Cell Function in Diabetes Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An oral nanoplatform, MOP@T@D, which can maintain glucose homeostasis and restore islet β cells in diabetic rats is developed. It achieves efficient intestinal absorption and liver‐targeted delivery. The nanoparticle disintegrates only in response to hyperglycemia to release insulin on demand and provides antioxidant protection through selenoprotein ...

Synthetic Nanobiology Actuated Lipometabolic Cell Factory for Autologous Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
FA plays a crucial role in the interaction between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment, especially for the immune response. A biocatalytic immunoenhancement strategy is developed to boost antitumor immunity by FA metabolic orientation to ceramide. Through the design of this delicate catalytic immunoenhancement strategy, the synthetic nanobiology

Living Liquid Metal Composites Embedded with Electrogenic Endospores for Next‐Generation Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of living liquid metal composites is introduced, embedding Bacillus subtilis endospores into eutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn). The spores enhance droplet coalescence, strengthen interfacial conductivity, and provide on‐demand electrogenic functionality after germination. The composites exhibit high conductivity, self‐healing, patternability,

Agonist efficacy at the β2AR is driven by the faster association rate of the Gs protein

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
IntroductionThe β2-adrenoceptor (β2AR) is a class A G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). It is therapeutically relevant in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), where β2AR agonists relieve bronchoconstriction.

Mechanistic Insights into Cofactor-Dependent Coupling of RNA Folding and mRNA Transcription/Translation by a Cobalamin Riboswitch

open access: yesCell Reports, 2016
Riboswitches are mRNA elements regulating gene expression in response to direct binding of a metabolite. While these RNAs are increasingly well understood with respect to interactions between receptor domains and their cognate effector molecules, little ...
