The dopamine D2 antagonist remoxipride acts in vivo on a subpopulation of dopamine D2 receptors
Neuroscience, 1994Dopamine D2 receptors were inactivated by N-ethoxycarbonyl-2-ethoxy-1,2,-dihydroxy-quinoline (EEDQ) (6 mg/kg i.p.). The reduction in dopamine receptors was monitored by quantitative receptor autoradiography using [125I]iodosulpiride or [3H]raclopride as radioligands.

Dopamine D2 Receptor and Tourette's Syndrome
Archives of Neurology, 1995I was pleased to see the study by Gelernter et al 1 concerning the role of the dopamine D 2 receptor ( DRD2 ) gene in Tourette syndrome (TS) because the authors so nicely verified our previous studies demonstrating a role the DRD2 gene in TS and because they illustrated some of the issues concerning association vs linkage studies in neuropsychiatric ...

Aspects of the structure of the D2 dopamine receptor
Trends in Neurosciences, 1990Significant new information on the D2 dopamine receptor has recently become available from a combination of protein chemical and molecular genetic analyses. Molecular genetic studies have shown the receptor to be a member of the family of receptors that are linked to G proteins and that have structures predicted to contain seven transmembrane domains ...

Molecular Pharmacology, 1995
In vivo administration of an antisense oligonucleotide targeted toward the D2 dopamine (DA) receptor mRNA (D2 AS) markedly inhibited D2 receptor-mediated behaviors but produced only a relatively small reduction in the levels of D2 DA receptors in mouse striatum.

The Dopamine D2 Receptor Gene and Alcoholism
JAMA, 1991To the Editor. — Two JAMA reports differ in describing the association between a D2dopamine receptor gene allele and alcoholism. Blum et al1found that the Al allele of the D2gene was present in a significantly higher percentage of 35 alcoholics (69%) than in 35 nonalcoholic controls (20%).

Dopamine D2 Receptor Dimers and Receptor-Blocking Peptides
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1996Dopamine D2 receptors exist as dimers in whole cell lysate, crude membranes prepared from human caudate, and following solubilization and immunoprecipitation of the receptor from these tissues. Photoaffinity labelling experiments confirmed that D2 receptors exist either as monomers that are selective targets for spiperone or as dimers that are targets ...

D2 Dopamine Receptors and Schizophrenia
1991The dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia postulates that an elevation of the D2 dopamine receptor density could be part of the pathophysiology of the disease. To assess this question, in vivo studies of the D2 receptors have been performed in drug-free schizophrenics using positron emission tomography.

Olfactory receptor neurons express D2 dopamine receptors
The Journal of Comparative Neurology, 1999The role of the dopamine (DA) in the olfactory bulb (OB) was explored by determining which of the potential target cells express dopamine receptors (DARs). Previously, it was reported that D2-like DAR (D2, D3, and D4 subtypes) radioligand binding is restricted to the outer layers of the OB.

D2 dopamine receptor localization on striatonigral neurons
Neuroscience Letters, 1992Two major pharmacological classes of dopamine receptors exist in the central nervous system. These receptors have been designated as D1 or D2 based upon their differing pharmacology and influence on the cyclic AMP second messenger system. Different genes for the D1 and D2 dopamine receptors have been isolated and are found to be expressed in high ...
