Inhibin Interaction with LHRH Receptors at the Pituitary Level [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Andrology, 1982
In order to investigate whether inhibin could modulate the action of luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH), the in vitro effect of inhibin of LHRH bindings to the pituitaries from intact adult male rats was studied. The inhibin preparations suppressed the binding of labeled LHRH to pituitary receptors in a dose-related manner.

Targeting of Peptide Cytotoxins to LHRH Receptors For Treatment of Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Drug Targets, 2016
Receptors for LHRH (luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone) are expressed in about 80% of human endometrial, ovarian and prostate cancers and are also found in more than 50% of breast cancers including triple negative breast cancers. In the human body, LHRH receptors are found at significant levels in the pituitary and reproductive organs.

Dose escalation and pharmacokinetic study of AEZS-108 (AN-152), an LHRH agonist linked to doxorubicin, in women with LHRH receptor-positive tumors [PDF]

open access: yesGynecologic Oncology, 2010
Receptors for luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) can be utilized for targeted chemotherapy of cytotoxic LHRH analogs. The compound AEZS-108 (previously AN-152) consists of [D-Lys?]LHRH linked to doxorubicin.

LHRH analogues as anticancer agents: pituitary and extrapituitary sites of action [PDF]

open access: yesExpert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2001
Two classes of luteinising hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) analogues have been developed so far to be used for oncological therapies: LHRH agonists and antagonists.

LHRH-receptors and LHRH-agonist treatment in ovarian cancer: An overview

The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1990
Considerable evidence exists that ovarian cancer might be gonadotrophin-dependent. Receptors for LH and FSH have been discovered in these tumors. Proliferation of ovarian cancer cells in vitro could be stimulated by gonadotrophins. Withdrawal of LH and FSH in animal models of ovarian cancer inhibited growth of these tumors.

Glucocorticoid Receptors in LHRH Neurons

Neuroendocrinology, 2008
Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH)-producing neurons constitute the final pathway for regulation of reproductive endocrine function by the central nervous system. Chronically elevated levels of glucocorticoids exert an inhibitory effect on reproductive function.

Effect of LHRH-PE40 on target cells via LHRH receptors

Journal of Drug Targeting, 2008
To detect the effect and cytotoxicity of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone-Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin 40 (LHRH-PE40) on target cells using LHRH receptors (LHRHR).The affinity of LHRH-PE40 and LHRH binding to LHRHR on the membrane surface of target cells were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.

LHRH RECEPTORS AND LHRH RECEPTOR-BEARING CELLS IN PITUITARIES OF STREPTOZOCIN DIABETIC MALE RATS

Pharmacological Research, 1997
Streptozocin (STZ)-diabetic rats have low hypothalamic luteotropic hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) secretion and various alterations of gonadotrope cells, among which low luteotropic hormone (LH) secretion. Possible causes for the gonadotrope disorders may be low hypothalamic LHRH secretion alone or combined with reduced (a) number of LHRH receptor ...

Absence of androgen receptors in LHRH immunoreactive neurons

Brain Research, 1993
Androgen has a negative feedback effect upon reproductive functions. Studies have suggested that this effect is mediated partially at the hypothalamic level. However, it is not clear whether the action is direct or indirect on LHRH neurons. In the present study, double immunocytochemistry was used to localize LHRH and androgen receptors.

Variations in the number of pituitary LHRH receptors correlated with altered responsiveness to LHRH

Life Sciences, 1982
Isolated pituitary cells from metestrous, ovariectomized (OVX), and ovariectomized-estradiol treated (OVX-EB) rats were employed to study the gonadotrophin response to luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) challenge and to quantitate LHRH receptors, using a labeled LHRH analog.
