Hydroxychloroquine Associated With Lower Glomerular Filtration Rate Decline in Lupus Nephritis
Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) protects kidney function in lupus nephritis (LN) by preventing flares, yet some cohort studies show no significant benefit in kidney function with HCQ. Clarifying these conflicting findings by showing early and long‐term benefits of HCQ on kidney function preservation is critical.

Duplicated membrane estrogen receptors in the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax): Phylogeny, expression and regulation throughout the reproductive cycle [PDF]
The numerous estrogen functions reported across vertebrates have been classically explained by their binding to specific transcription factors, the nuclear estrogen receptors (ERs).

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of baricitinib in pediatric patients with active juvenile idiopathic arthritis–associated uveitis (JIA‐U) or chronic anterior antinuclear antibody–positive uveitis, who had an inadequate response to methotrexate (MTX) or biologic disease‐modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs).

Hsp70 cochaperones HspBP1 and BAG-1M differentially regulate steroid hormone receptor function.
Hsp70 binding protein 1 (HspBP1) and Bcl2-associated athanogene 1 (BAG-1), the functional orthologous nucleotide exchange factors of the heat shock protein 70 kilodalton (Hsc70/Hsp70) chaperones, catalyze the release of ADP from Hsp70 while inducing ...

Subcellular localization of the five members of the human steroid 5α-reductase family [PDF]
In humans the steroid 5a-reductase (SRD5A) family comprises five integral membrane enzymes that carry out reduction of a double bond in lipidic substrates: D4-3-keto steroids, polyprenol and trans-enoyl CoA.

Objective This study assessed sarilumab in treating patients with polyarticular‐course juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pcJIA). Methods This phase 2b, open‐label study (NCT02776735) consisted of three sequential parts (each with a core‐treatment and extension‐phase). During part 1, three doses were assessed in two weight groups (Group A/B: ≥30–60 kg/≥10–<

A New First Step in Activation of Steroid Receptors
We have identified a new first step in the hormonal activation of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR). Rather than causing immediate dissociation of the cytoplasmic GR heterocomplex, binding of hormone-induced substitution of one immunophilin (FKBP51) for ...
