Post‐surgery level of circulating DNA in stage III colon cancer patients: Impact on the reliability of minimal residual disease detection

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 10, Page 2771-2783, 15 May 2026.
What's New? Circulating nuclear DNA (cir‐nDNA)‐based assessment of minimal residual disease (MRD) offers powerful post‐surgery prognostic insight for stage III colon cancer (CC). Sparse knowledge of post‐surgical variations and origins in cir‐nDNA, however, has limited its clinical application.

Impact of lung cancer screening eligibility criteria on participants' characteristics and healthcare resources

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 9, Page 2359-2368, 1 May 2026.
What's new? Inclusion criteria for lung cancer screening (LCS) maintain cost control by focusing resources on select high‐risk groups. However, eligible individuals are inherently dissimilar in risk profile and demographics, potentially impacting LCS effectiveness and uptake.

But how does it smell? An investigation of olfactory bulb size among living and fossil primates and other euarchontoglirans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 4, Page 1037-1060, April 2026.
Analysis of cranial endocast data of 181 extant and 41 fossil species from Euarchontoglires shows that there was a reduction in olfactory bulb size in Crown Primates, but that there were also subsequent reductions in various other primate clades (Anthropoidea, Catarrhini, Platyrrhini, crown Cercopithecoidea, Hominoidea).

Frailty and Recurrent Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnoea: The SAVE Study

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Frailty is a common syndrome in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD). Whether frailty modifies the risk of recurrent cardiovascular events in patients with established CVD and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is uncertain.
