A Comparative Study on the Irrigation Suitability of Kerala's Rivers Using Fuzzy AHP and Conventional Methods

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food security in Kerala depends on effective irrigation, but poor‐quality irrigation water poses threats such as salinity, sodicity and reduced soil productivity. Although past assessments have been localised, this study presents the first comprehensive, statewide evaluation of irrigation water suitability across 44 major rivers in Kerala.

Public investment and electric vehicle design: a model-based market analysis framework with application to a USA–China comparison study

open access: yesDesign Science, 2016
Governments encourage use of electric vehicles (EV) via regulation and investment to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Manufacturers produce vehicles to maximize profit, given available public infrastructure and government incentives.

Evapotranspiration Profiles and Trends in Seasonally Dry and Seasonally Humid Tropical Forests

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Moisture availability and vegetation are decisive factors in ET variations, which are greater in the Atlantic Forest. Precipitation contributes positively to ET variations (r = 0.20–0.67). Significant trends (p < 0.05) in ET were identified, with opposing patterns.

Modeling of a Photovoltaic-Powered Electric Vehicle Charging Station with Vehicle-to-Grid Implementation

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
This paper is aimed at modelling of a distinct smart charging station for electric vehicles (EVs) that is suitable for DC quick EV charging while ensuring minimum stress on the power grid.

The Illusion of Structural Order: Evaluating the Suppression of Amorphous Carbon Black Pigment Bands in SSE‐Processed Handheld Raman Spectra

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
The handheld Raman with SSE system efficiently mitigates fluorescence; however, it may also bias the Raman response towards graphitic domains in carbon‐based black pigments, thereby concealing amorphous carbon contributions that are critical for pigment type identification.

Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Optimization of Mobile Charging Station and Battery Recharging Under Grid Constraints

open access: yesEnergies
With the rise in traffic congestion, time has become an increasingly critical factor for electric vehicle (EV) users, leading to a surge in demand for fast and convenient charging services at locations of their choosing.

Local Energy Storage and Stochastic Modeling for Ultrafast Charging Stations

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Multi-stall fast charging stations are often thought to require megawatt-range grid connections. The power consumption profile of such stations results in high cost penalties due to monthly power peaks and expensive linkage fees.

Does Palsa Thaw in Northern Finland Contribute to Remobilisation of Metals Accumulated in Peat Into Surface Waters?

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Permafrost is rapidly degrading in the sporadic zone, including palsa mires in Scandinavia. Peatlands in the area have likely accumulated heavy metals from atmospheric deposition of industrial contaminants in the wider region. As the palsa mire chemical composition is not well known, and in other permafrost regions the permafrost thaw may ...

Efficient algorithms for electric vehicles’ min-max routing problem

open access: yesSustainable Operations and Computers
An increase in greenhouse gases emission from the transportation sector has led companies and the government to elevate and support the production of electric vehicles (EV).

The urban recharging infrastructure design problem with stochastic demands and capacitated charging stations

open access: yesTransportation Research Part B: Methodological, 2019
In this study we develop an exact solution method to optimize the location and capacity of charging stations to satisfy the fast charging needs of electric vehicles in urban areas. Stochastic recharge demands, capacity limitations of charging stations and drivers’ route preferences (deviation tolerances) are simultaneously considered to address this ...
