Interaction of acrocentric chromosome involved in translocation and sex of the carrier influences the proportion of alternate segregation in autosomal reciprocal translocations

Human Reproduction, 2018
STUDY QUESTION Are meiotic segregation patterns of reciprocal translocations affected by the combined effect of chromosome type and carrier's sex? SUMMARY ANSWER Interaction of an acrocentric chromosome (Acr-ch) involved in the translocation and sex of

Reciprocal translocation and the Philadelphia chromosome

Human Genetics, 1978
We examined metaphases from three patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia and a typical Philadelphia chromosome with one chromosome 9 as the recipient to determine whether the 9q+22q- translocation is reciprocal. Good quality G-banded photographs of the chromosomes concerned were subjected to light absorption density analysis.

Reciprocal Translocations in Pisum

Nature, 1950
SOME years ago I published an analysis of structurally changed types of Pisum sativum based on cytological observations1. One of these, structural type four which had arisen in the variety Extra Rapid, was reported as having chromosomes 3 and 5 interchanged, according to my notation.

The temperature sensitivity of ecosystem respiration to climate change in an alpine meadow on the Tibet plateau: A reciprocal translocation experiment

, 2016
Information about the potential effects of climate change, especially cooling, on ecosystem respiration (Re) in alpine meadows is scarce. We determined the effects of warming and cooling on Re on the Tibetan Plateau using a 2-year reciprocal ...

Reciprocal or nonreciprocal human chromosome translocations?

Human Genetics, 1977
Two carriers of a balanced translocation, one paternal t(9q-;13p+) and one maternal t(3q-;15p+), were studied cytogenetically with selective silver staining to localize more precisely the break points on the short arms of the two acrocentric chromosomes involved.

Reciprocal Translocation Against GA-Deceptiveness

2005 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, 2005
Reciprocal translocation is a nature-inspired crossover operator that is proved to be a useful alternative for the conventional multipoint and uniform crossover operators. This paper compares the performance of reciprocal translocation against the well-known conventional crossover operators for the solution of provably difficult GA-deceptive functions.

Lack of reciprocal translocations in carcinomas

Cancer Genetics and Cytogenetics, 1986
Among the varied structural chromosomal aberrations present in the common forms of carcinoma, reciprocal translocations generally appear to be lacking. Although the breakpoints may be variable, the chromosomal changes nevertheless commonly result in the loss or gain of particular chromosomal segments. The possible implications of these observations are

Partners with reciprocal translocations: genetic counseling for the ‘double translocation’

Clinical Genetics, 1998
SV at age 2 years presented with multiple congenital anomalies including an absent left kidney, anal stenosis, vertebral abnormalities, partial sacral agenesis, microcephaly, dysmorphic facial features, growth deficiency, and developmental delay. She was found to have a complex chromosomal rearrangement derived from balanced translocations in each ...

Autosomal Reciprocal Translocations

2018
Abstract This chapter reviews in detail the question of carriers of autosomal reciprocal translocations and the genetic risks implied for potential offspring of theirs. Examples are put forward of the various possibilities due to malsegregation in gametes of theirs: adjacent-1, adjacent-2, 3:1, and the (very rare) 4:0 malsegregation ...
