Charge‐Induced Morphing Gels for Bioinspired Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 19, 5 March 2026.
This study introduces a novel electroactive actuation mechanism that enables the gel material to generate substantial and reversible shape‐changing while preserving topological and isochoric (volumetric) equivalence. The resultant morphing behaviors can mimic the movements of muscle‐driven organelles in nature, including cilia‐like beating and ...

Ultra‐High Friction and Adhesion in Hydrogel Layer Driven by Wet‐to‐Dry Transition Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 15, 13 March 2026.
This work reveals a critical wet‐to‐dry transition in polyacrylamide hydrogel layers that induces volumetric shrinkage, resulting in enhanced interfacial contact and dramatically increased friction and adhesion. Leveraging this transition enables strong, reversible gripping on diverse surfaces, offering new insights for hydrogel‐based gripping ...

A Tangentially Sensitive Tactile Sensor Reveals the Stick‐Slip Mechanism and Enhances Robotic Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
An ultralight, multilayer anisotropic tactile sensor—an artificial Pacinian corpuscle—exhibits ultrahigh tangential sensitivity (1022 kPa−1) and spatiotemporal sensing. It discriminates static, sliding, and rolling contacts, detects incipient stick–slip via high‑frequency signatures, and enhances robotic touch (100%/98.18% accuracy for active/passive ...

Simulation and Experimental Investigation of Low‐Speed Centrifugal Pump Coupled With Vertical Ultra‐Low‐Head Turbine for Small‐Scale Irrigation

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
From the reviews, a new concept of a low‐speed centrifugal pump (LSCP) driven by a vertical ultra‐low‐head hydro turbine (VULHT) was designed and tested on simulation and physical setup. It was performed with a 1.8 m delivery head, concluding as inefficient. For ultra‐low‐head conditions, different than centrifugal action is recommended.

Combined Effect of Cetane Improver, Aluminum Oxide Nanoparticles, and Waste Cooking Oil Biodiesel Blend on a Dual Fuel Combustion Engine Run With Biogas Originated From Food Waste

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 1372-1386, March 2026.
Sugarcane juice is clarified and fermented with yeast to produce ethanol and CO₂. The broth is refined through distillation and molecular sieves, yielding fuel‐grade ethanol stored for transport. Bagasse, vinasse, and residues are recycled as valuable by‐products, enabling a sustainable bioethanol production pathway ABSTRACT This study investigates the

Communication With Friends and Non‐Friend Peers: An Examination of Dyadic Connectedness Across Two Play Contexts

open access: yesInfant and Child Development, Volume 35, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Children's peer interactions provide an important setting for their developing communication skills. The current study analyses connectedness—the topical coherence of children's conversational turns—to explore how children coordinate their interactions across two play contexts.

Death Anxiety During the Last Year of Life in Patients With Advanced Cancer: Longitudinal Results From the eQuiPe Study

open access: yesPsycho-Oncology, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Death anxiety in patients with advanced cancer may increase during the last year of life due to increasing symptom burden and growing awareness of prognosis. Aims To examine the trajectory of death anxiety during the last year of life in patients with advanced cancer and its associated factors.

Cognitive Networks for Knowledge Modeling: A Gentle Introduction for Data‐ and Cognitive Scientists

open access: yesWIREs Cognitive Science, Volume 17, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Cognitive network science helps organize associative knowledge—that is, the connections between concepts. These connections play a key role in cognitive processes such as language understanding and context interpretation, even though they are not obvious in language use.
