Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Anatomy of the binary black hole recoil: A multipolar analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a multipolar analysis of the gravitational recoil computed in recent numerical simulations of binary black hole (BH) coalescence, for both unequal masses and non-zero, non-precessing spins.

Engineering of Crystallinity to Amplify Chiroptical Activity of TiO2 Nanohelices for Enhancing Dissymmetric Circularly Polarized Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancing crystallinity through thermal annealing leads to amplifying the chiroptical activity of TiO2 nanohelices (NHs) fabricated by glancing angle deposition, ascribed to the suppression of charge trapping. The enhanced chiroptical activity can be converted into pronounced dissymmetric photocatalytic kinetics of circularly polarized photocatalysis ...

Nuclear structure in the neutron-deficient Sn nuclei TKEL effects on lifetime measurements [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
The presence of seniority-like isomers along the Z = 50 isotopic chain have been an experimental limitation to the investigation of the electromagnetic properties of the low-lying states in the light Sn nuclei. Combining a multi-nucleon transfer reaction

Doppler cooling to the recoil limit by means of sharp atomic transitions with controlled quenching [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America B, 2003
We develop an analytical approach to Doppler cooling of atoms by one- or two-photon transitions when the natural width of the excited level is so small that the process leads to a Doppler temperature comparable with the recoil temperature. In such a limit the usual Fokker–Planck equation for Doppler cooling does not correctly describe the cooling ...

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Performance Study of a Permanent-Magnet Eddy Current Damper for Guns Recoil Control

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2023
Abstract Eddy current damper (ECD) is a promising device for dissipating kinetic energy in dynamic systems, this study is conducted to analyze the dynamic characterization and structural optimization of linear ECD under guns launch load. The recoil resistance of ECD under guns launch load is highly nonlinear at high recoil velocity, and ...
