Exploring the Effects of Replicating Shape, Weight and Recoil Effects on VR Shooting Controllers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Commercial Virtual Reality (VR) controllers with realistic force feedback are becoming available, to increase the realism and immersion of first-person shooting (FPS) games in VR. These controllers attempt to mimic not only the shape and weight of real guns but also their recoil effects (linear force feedback parallel to the barrel, when the gun is ...

Recoil Effect and Photoemission Splitting of Trions in Monolayer MoS2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The 2D geometry nature and low dielectric constant in transition-metal dichalcogenides lead to easily formed strongly bound excitons and trions. Here, we studied the photoluminescence of van der Waals heterostructures of monolayer MoS2 and graphene at ...

Electron–deuteron DIS with spectator tagging at EIC: Development of theoretical framework

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
An Electron–Ion Collider (EIC) would enable next-generation measurements of deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) on the deuteron with detection of a forward-moving nucleon (p, n) and measurement of its recoil momentum (“spectator tagging”).

An Evaluation of Magneto Rheological Dampers for Controlling Gun Recoil Dynamics

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2001
The application of magneto rheological dampers for controlling recoil dynamics is examined, using a recoil demonstrator that includes a single‐shot 50 caliber BMG rifle action and a MR damper. The demonstrator is selected such that it can adequately represent the velocities that commonly occur in weapons with a recoil system, and can be used for ...

Human Pegivirus Encephalitis With Brain Detection and Response to Sofosbuvir Ledipasvir

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human pegivirus (HPgV‐1) has been associated with severe encephalomyelitis in immunocompromised patients. Its neurological spectrum remains poorly defined. We report a slowly progressive encephalitis in a person living with well‐controlled HIV, characterized by white matter abnormalities and inflammatory cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). HPgV RNA was

Observation and control of nonmonotonic recoils in a viscoelastic fluid

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We experimentally study the relaxation dynamics of a colloidal particle in a micellar viscoelastic fluid following different driving protocols. When the particle is driven at constant velocity for a finite duration, its recovery to equilibrium is always monotonic.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Recoil Control Analysis of Deepwater Drilling Riser Tension System

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2020
The drilling riser tension system can mitigate the influence of the floating platform/ship heave motion on the riser and provide a nearly constant top tension force for the riser. Therefore, a large amount of energy is stored in the drilling riser system.

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.
