Roombots: Reconfigurable Robots for Adaptive Furniture [PDF]
Imagine a world in which our furniture moves around like legged robots, interacts with us, and changes shape and function during the day according to our needs. This is the long term vision we have in the Roombots project. To work towards this dream, we are developing modular robotic modules that have rotational degrees of freedom for locomotion as ...

A meniscus‐guided microtransfer molding strategy enables scalable fabrication of grid‐type molecular martensite films with b‐axis‐correlated preferential texture. Sequential growth across microchannel intersections creates structurally continuous grids and robust thermoelastic actuation (∼11% strain, > 50 cycles, maximum force density: 7.1 × 109 N m−3).

A Novel Docking System for Modular Self-Reconfigurable Robots
Existing self-reconfigurable robots achieve connections and disconnections by a separate drive of the docking system. In this paper, we present a new docking system with which the connections and disconnections are driven by locomotion actuators, without

Interaction‐Driven Assembly Pathways in Heterogeneous Active Microrobotic Systems
Peanut‐ and cube‐shaped light‐powered microrobots exhibit distinct magnetic and photocatalytic responses that determine their heterogeneous self‐assembly. In the dark, magnetic dipole interactions drive colloidal copolymerization with cubes acting as nucleation centers, whereas under light irradiation, phoretic interactions compete with magnetic ...

Synchronizing a modular robot colony for cooperative tasks based on intrainter robot communications [PDF]
The implementation of robotic cooperative tasks such as pushing an object toward a desired destination or manipulating an object using mobile robots or robotic arms requires motion coordination between the robot colony. When a robot is built by the union
