Reconstruction of the upper extremity in tetraplegia: functional assessment, surgical procedures and rehabilitation [PDF]
The results of 22 procedures (8 for elbow extension, 14 for hand rehabilitation) on the upper limb in tetraplegia are reported. To evaluate the effect of surgery an objective hand function test is presented. The few complications after surgery must be attributed to the material used.

A Pelvic Reconstruction Procedure for Custom-Made Prosthesis Design of Bone Tumor Surgical Treatments [PDF]
In orthopaedic oncology, limb salvage procedures are becoming more frequent thanks to recent major improvements in medical imaging, biomechanical modelling and additive manufacturing. For the pelvis, surgical reconstruction with metal implants after tumor resection remains challenging, because of the complex anatomical structures involved.

Parametric Investigation on Different Bone Densities to avoid Thermal Necrosis during Bone Drilling Process [PDF]
Bone drilling is a universal surgical procedure commonly used for internal fracture fixation, implant placement, or reconstructive surgery in orthopedics and dentistry. The increased temperature during such treatment increases the risk of thermal penetration of the bone, which may delay healing or compromise the fixation's integrity.

SAMSNeRF: Segment Anything Model (SAM) Guides Dynamic Surgical Scene Reconstruction by Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) [PDF]
The accurate reconstruction of surgical scenes from surgical videos is critical for various applications, including intraoperative navigation and image-guided robotic surgery automation. However, previous approaches, mainly relying on depth estimation, have limited effectiveness in reconstructing surgical scenes with moving surgical tools.

A comprehensive survey on recent deep learning-based methods applied to surgical data [PDF]
Minimally invasive surgery is highly operator dependant with a lengthy procedural time causing fatigue to surgeon and risks to patients such as injury to organs, infection, bleeding, and complications of anesthesia. To mitigate such risks, real-time systems are desired to be developed that can provide intra-operative guidance to surgeons.
