Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Estimating Default and Recovery Rate Correlations [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
The paper analyzes a two-factor credit risk model allowing to capture default and recovery rate variation, their mutual correlation, and dependence on various explanatory variables. At the same time, it allows computing analytically the unexpected credit loss.

Recovery rates, default probabilities, and the credit cycle [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Banking & Finance, 2010
In recessions, the number of defaulting firms rises. On top of this, the average amount recovered on the bonds of defaulting firms tends to decrease. This paper proposes an econometric model in which this joint time-variation in default rates and recovery rate distributions is driven by an unobserved Markov chain, which we interpret as the “credit ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Heart rate cost as a tool for monitoring recovery between acute training sessions

open access: yes
Purpose Effective recovery monitoring is crucial to optimise performance and prevent overreaching, injuries, and overtraining. This study evaluated the heart rate cost (HRC) during submaximal running as a simple, non-invasive, and costeffective tool to ...

Bank loans recovery rate in commercial banks:A case study of non-financial corporations [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik radova Ekonomskog fakulteta u Rijeci : časopis za ekonomsku teoriju i praksu, 2019
The empirical literature on credit risk is mainly based on modelling the probability of default, omitting the modelling of the loss given default. This paper is aimed to predict recovery rates on the rarely applied nonparametric method of Bayesian Model ...

Heart Rate Recovery Index In Patients With Psoriasis [PDF]

open access: yesTurk Kardiyoloji Dernegi Arsivi-Archives of the Turkish Society of Cardiology, 2012
In clinical practice, autonomic functions are indirectly investigated with heart rate recovery (HRR) index measurements. Our aim was to evaluate the HRR index in patients with psoriasis, which is a systemic inflammatory disease. The study population included 39 psoriasis patients (18 female, mean age 48±15 years) and 40 control group (18 female, mean ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

RECOVERY RATE AND QUALITY OF EMBRYOS AS AFFECTED BY REPEATED SURGICAL COLLECTION FROM NEW ZEALAND WHITE AND BALADI RABBIT DOES. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Animal and Poultry Production, 2010
Total of 12 New Zealand white (NZW, n=6) and Baladi black (BB, n=6) rabbit does (6-7 mo of age and 3.25-3.50 kg LBW) as embryo donors and two fertile bucks one from each breed (7.5-8 mo of age and 3.5-4 kg LBW) for natural mating during the experimental ...
