Anastomotic Sinus That Developed From Leakage After a Rectal Cancer Resection: Should We Wait for Closure of the Stoma Until the Complete Resolution of the Sinus? [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Coloproctology, 2019
Purpose The aims of this study were to identify the clinical characteristics of an anastomotic sinus and to assess the validity of delaying stoma closure in patients until the complete resolution of an anastomotic sinus.

Deacetylation of ACLY Mediates RNA M6A‐Modification of NOXA and Promotes Chemoresistance of Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the deacetylation of ACLY at K978 acts as a novel risk in colorectal cancer chemoresistance. The deacetylation of K978 induces ACLY relocation to the nucleus and promotes its binding to RBM15, a m6A methylation modification “writer”.

Should the rectal defect be sutured following TEMS/TAMIS carried out for neoplastic rectal lesions? A Meta-Analysis.

open access: yesAnnals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, 2020
INTRODUCTION Management of the rectal defect following transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS) or minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) carried out for excision of neoplasm in the lower rectum is controversial.

Single Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Define a Proinflammatory and Profibrotic Niche After Kidney Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating single‐cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, tenascin C (TNC) is unveiled as a central organizer of the proinflammatory and profibrotic niche in kidney fibrosis. TNC promotes macrophage activation through TLR4/NF‐κB signaling, leading to renal inflammation and fibrosis.

ZFPL1 Promotes Colorectal Cancer Progression by Stabilizing ASS1 to Drive the Urea Cycle and M2 Macrophage‐Mediated Metastatic Colonization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ScRNA‐seq reveals ZFPL1‐specific enrichment in malignant CRC cells. Mechanistically, ZFPL1 stabilizes ASS1 by blocking K57 ubiquitination, activating urea cycle metabolism to drive progression. ZFPL1 inhibition reprograms the TME by suppressing M2 macrophages polarization and promotion M1 macrophages, thereby inhibiting CRC liver metastasis ...

Onion‐Mitochondria Inhibit Lipopolysaccharide‐Induced Acute Lung Injury by Shaping Lung Macrophage Mitochondrial Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Proposed model of orally administered onion mitochondria (O‐Mit) uptake by lung macrophages and fuse with macrophage mitochondria (M‐Mit). This fusion reprograms the metabolism of dysfunctional M‐Mit in lipopolysaccharide‐induced murine acute lung injury by modulating dynamin‐related protein 1 (DRP1) phosphorylation and cardiolipin peroxidation ...

Vinburnine Sensitizes Radiotherapy Efficacy in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma by Triggering Pyroptosis and Immune Responses via Activation of EDAR‐NFκB Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that vinburnine, an approved cerebrovascular drug, synergizes with radiotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by modulating EDAR‐NFκB signaling through directly binding to EDAR, leading to triggering apoptosis/pyroptosis, and amplifying CCL5/CX3CL1‐driven T‐cell cytotoxicity.

Comparison of Performance and Clinical Outcome of Three Methods of Straight, Side-to-End, and Colonic J-Pouch Colorectal Anastomosis in Patients with Rectal Cancer

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2021
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: There are several techniques for preserving the rectum in Low Anterior Resection (LAR) and preventing permanent ostomy. However, the superiority of these techniques is still under debate. The aim of this study was to compare the

Interactions of Antibody Drug Conjugate Anti‐Tubulin and Topoisomerase I Inhibitor Payloads with Radiotherapy to Potentiate Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody drug conjugates deliver their cytotoxic anti‐tubulin or topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads to tumors through cancer cell receptor targeting. The released drug payloads induce cellular changes that interact with radiotherapy resulting in radiosensitization that improves cancer cell kill and stimulates anti‐tumor immune responses.
