Evaluating the Nakajima et al. model for rectangular-aperture screens [PDF]

open access: yesMinerals Engineering, 2002
Abstract Nakajima et al. [Trans. Inst. Mining Metall. 87 (1978) C194] developed a method to measure the shape distribution of particles in terms of their size and thickness. This method was later extended to include models for square, rectangular, and circular aperture screens.

Geometry optimization of periodic screen cell with two orthogonal rectangular waveguides

2008 12th International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory, 2008
We consider the periodic screen with cell containing two rectangular slots with one offset relatively to the cellpsilas line of symmetry. Elements of reflection matrix and value of chirality measure in dependence of this offset are calculated. The optimal offset of slot in such periodic sell of thin enough screen is found.

Simulation of the Motion of Groundwater for a Rectangular Bridge with a Screen

Doklady Physics, 2020
Within the framework of the steady-state flat filtering of an incompressible fluid according to Darcy’s law, we obtain an accurate analytical solution to the problem of a flow in a rectangular bridge with a screen in the presence of evaporation from the free surface of groundwater. The limiting cases of the motion under consideration are noted, that is,

PORT: Pooled Ordered Rectangular Testing for Improved Public Health Screening

2021 IEEE 9th International Conference on Healthcare Informatics (ICHI), 2021
COVID19 has challenged the current day’s medical testing capability. Pooled testing is an effective approach that can increase scale with limited resources and reduce the overall costs considerably. Current pooled testing techniques usually make the assumption that the entire population has a uniform probability of infection.

Nondestructive characterization of Salisbury screen and Jaumann absorbers using a clamped rectangular waveguide geometry

open access: yesMeasurement: Journal of the International Measurement Confederation, 2014
A nondestructive technique to characterize Salisbury screen and Jaumann absorbers is presented. The proposed method utilizes two flanged rectangular waveguides to unambiguously determine the permittivities of two-layer dielectric absorbers.

Diffraction radiation from a charged particle moving through a rectangular hole in a rectangular screen

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2005
We developed a new model for calculating diffraction radiation (DR) from an electron moving through a rectangular hole in a rectangular screen. The calculations show that short wavelength DR is very sensitive to the beam size. For example, optical DR (ODR) could be used to measure the beam size as small as 10 μm.

Scattering from a Rectangular Pit in Impedance Screen

2006 International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory, 2006
Plane-wave scattering from an impedance rectangular pit by means of variational method is investigated. The problem is reduced to Fredholm's integral equations with respect to finite functions. These functions are linear combinations of the tangential components of electrical and magnetic fields on the pit aperture.

Two screens with rectangular holes, as Fabry-Perot resonator

2016 9th International Kharkiv Symposium on Physics and Engineering of Microwaves, Millimeter and Submillimeter Waves (MSMW), 2016
Studied electrodynamics properties of the Fabry-Perot resonator formed by two parallel ideally conducting screens with finite thickness having rectangular holes. Shown availability of a strong localization of the electromagnetic field in the volume of the resonator at a fixed wavelength, which is prohibitive for segments of rectangular waveguides ...
