Re-treatment With Adjuvant Radioactive Iodine Does Not Improve Recurrence-Free Survival of Patients With Differentiated Thyroid Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
Introduction: Loco regional persistence or recurrence of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) is frequent despite initial thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine therapy (RAI).

On two recurrence problems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
We review some aspects of recurrence in topological dynamics and focus on two open problems. The first is an old one concerning the relation between Poincare and Birkhoff recurrence; the second, due to Boshernitzan, is about moving recurrence. We provide a partial answer to a topological version of the moving recurrence problem.

Recurrence Risk for Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Baby Siblings Research Consortium Study

open access: yesPediatrics, 2011
OBJECTIVE: The recurrence risk of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is estimated to be between 3% and 10%, but previous research was limited by small sample sizes and biases related to ascertainment, reporting, and stoppage factors.

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

The Cube Recurrence

open access: yes, 2004
We construct a combinatorial model that is described by the cube recurrence, a nonlinear recurrence relation introduced by Propp, which generates families of Laurent polynomials indexed by points in $\mathbb{Z}^3$.

The generalized strong recurrence for non-zero rational parameters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The strong recurrence is equivalent to the Riemann hypothesis. On the other hand, the generalized strong recurrence holds for any irrational number. In this paper, we show the generalized strong recurrence for all non-zero rational numbers. Moreover, we prove that the generalized strong recurrence in the region of absolute convergence holds for any ...

Particle Swarm Optimization Feature Selection for Breast Cancer Recurrence Prediction

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Women who have recovered from breast cancer (BC) always fear its recurrence. The fact that they have endured the painstaking treatment makes recurrence their greatest fear. However, with current advancements in technology, early recurrence prediction can

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

Association of Circulating Tumor Cells With Late Recurrence of Estrogen Receptor–Positive Breast Cancer: A Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesJAMA Oncology, 2018
Importance Late recurrence 5 or more years after diagnosis accounts for at least one-half of all cases of recurrent hormone receptor–positive breast cancer.
