Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Recurrence plot features: an example using ECG [PDF]

open access: yesISSPA '99. Proceedings of the Fifth International Symposium on Signal Processing and its Applications (IEEE Cat. No.99EX359), 2003
Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals are analysed using the nonlinear method of recurrence plots, which reveals subtle time correlations in time-domain signals. Large-scale features in the recurrence plots, which consist entirely of single dots, line segments of different orientations and white spaces, are directly related to time-domain features in the ...

Enhancing EEG-Based Emotion Recognition Using Asymmetric Windowing Recurrence Plots

open access: yesIEEE Access
Time-series classification (TSC) has been widely utilized across various domains, including brain-computer interfaces (BCI) for emotion recognition through electroencephalogram (EEG) signals.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Open Set Domain Adaptation for Classification of Dynamical States in Nonlinear Fluid Dynamical Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
Nonlinear fluid dynamical systems, such as thermoacoustic systems, aeroelastic systems are archetypical complex systems involving state transitions upon a change in bifurcation parameter.

A Refinement of Recurrence Analysis to Determine the Time Delay of Causality in Presence of External Perturbations

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
This article describes a refinement of recurrence analysis to determine the delay in the causal influence between a driver and a target, in the presence of additional perturbations affecting the time series of the response observable.

From fuzzy recurrence plots to scalable recurrence networks of time series

open access: yes, 2017
Recurrence networks, which are derived from recurrence plots of nonlinear time series, enable the extraction of hidden features of complex dynamical systems.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Stochastic Dynamics and Control in Nonlinear Waves with Darboux Transformations, Quasi-Periodic Behavior, and Noise-Induced Transitions

open access: yesMathematics
Stochastically forced nonlinear wave systems are commonly associated with complex dynamical behavior, although little is known about the general interaction of nonlinear dispersion, irrational forcing frequencies, and multiplicative noise.
