Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Nonlinear dynamical analysis of GNSS data: quantification, precursors and synchronisation

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science, 2018
The goal of any nonlinear dynamical analysis of a data series is to extract features of the dynamics of the underlying physical and chemical processes that produce that spatial pattern or time series; a by-product is to characterise the signal in terms ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Effect of the Long-Term Mean and the Temporal Stability of Water-Energy Dynamics on China’s Terrestrial Species Richness

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2017
Water-energy dynamics broadly regulate species richness gradients but are being altered by climate change and anthropogenic activities; however, the current methods used to quantify this phenomenon overlook the non-linear dynamics of climatic time-series

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Recurrence quantification and recurrence network analysis of global photosynthetic activity

open access: yes, 2014
In this chapter, the potential of Recurrence Analysis (RA) for applications in the biogeosciences is demonstrated. We investigate the fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (FAPAR), an index based on multispectral reflectance properties ...

Sequential Nonlinear Recurrence Quantification Analysis of Attentional Visual Evoked Potential [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The analysis of electroencephalographic signal associated with the attention is essential for the understanding of human cognition. In this paper, the characteristic differences between the attention and inattention status in the brain were inspected by ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Recurrence Quantification Analysis for Spatial Data

open access: yes, 2022
Recurrence analysis has proven to be a robust methodology for characterizing complex behaviors, with numerous successful applications in multiple domains. However, most of the prior works addressed chaotic behaviors evolving over time.

Extensions of Recurrence Quantification Analysis

open access: yes, 2021
The last several years have produced an ever-increasing interest in characterizing behavior in terms of nonlinear dynamical systems. Likewise, the prevalence of motion capture devices and other rapidly sampled sensor data has also increased.
