Spring reproductive success influences autumnal malarial load in a passerine bird

open access: yesPeer Community Journal
Although avian haemosporidian parasites are widely used as model organisms to study fundamental questions in evolutionary and behavorial ecology of host-parasite interactions, some of their basic characteristics, such as seasonal variations in within ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

A switch convergence for a small perturbation of a linear recurrence equation

open access: yes, 2019
In this article we study a small random perturbation of a linear recurrence equation. If all the roots of its corresponding characteristic equation have modulus strictly less than one, the random linear recurrence goes exponentially fast to its limiting ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

RECURRENT OVARIAN GRANULOSA CELL TUMORS: DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT

open access: yesОпухоли женской репродуктивной системы, 2014
Recurrent ovarian granulose cell tumors (OGCT) occur in 20-40% of cases. The low incidence of OGCT and the specific features of their clinical course highly hamper the study of the mechanisms of development of recurrences and the possibilities of timely ...
