Copulas and time series with long-ranged dependences

open access: yes, 2013
We review ideas on temporal dependences and recurrences in discrete time series from several areas of natural and social sciences. We revisit existing studies and redefine the relevant observables in the language of copulas (joint laws of the ranks).

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Poincar\'e recurrences in Hamiltonian systems with a few degrees of freedom

open access: yes, 2010
Hundred twenty years after the fundamental work of Poincar\'e, the statistics of Poincar\'e recurrences in Hamiltonian systems with a few degrees of freedom is studied by numerical simulations.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Spring reproductive success influences autumnal malarial load in a passerine bird

open access: yesPeer Community Journal
Although avian haemosporidian parasites are widely used as model organisms to study fundamental questions in evolutionary and behavorial ecology of host-parasite interactions, some of their basic characteristics, such as seasonal variations in within ...

On some Properties of Tribonacci Quaternions

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2018
In this paper, we give some properties of the Tribonacci and Tribonacci-Lucas quaternions and obtain some identities for them.

RECURRENT IMMERSIONS

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 1999
A submanifold \(f: M^m \to \mathbb{R}^{m+d}\) is said to have pointwise \(k\)-planar normal section (P\(k\)-PNS) if, for each normal section \(\gamma\), the set \(\{\gamma'(0), \gamma''(0), {\cdots} , \gamma^{(k+1)}(0) \}\) is linearly dependent. Such an \(M\) is called proper (\(\text{PP}k\text{-PNS}\) if it is not P(\(k-1\))-PNS [\textit{B.-Y.

Measuring Lyapunov exponents of large chaotic systems with global coupling by time series analysis

open access: yes, 2018
Despite the prominent importance of the Lyapunov exponents for characterizing chaos, it still remains a challenge to measure them for large experimental systems, mainly because of the lack of recurrences in time series analysis.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
