Recurrent selection of tropical tree crops
Euphytica, 1997The recurrent selection schemes recommended by CIRAD for 6 tropical tree crops are presented and compared. Breeding programmes are carried out under cooperation between CIRAD and its partners in regions where the crops are grown. The crops are cacao, coffee, rubber tree, oil palm, coconut and eucalyptus.

Phenotypic recurrent selection in artichoke breeding
Acta Horticulturae, 2016The phenotypic recurrent selection aims to increase the favourable allelic frequency during successive selection cycles, which may result in an open-pollinated cultivar. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to obtain an artichoke population improved for traits related with head quality as well as to estimate the genetic gains for quantitative traits

Strategies of Marker‐Aided Recurrent Selection
Crop Science, 1998The choice of a marker‐aided recurrent selection (MARS) strategy depends on a number of factors. An experimental comparison of these factors can be costly or infeasible, but a theoretical comparison can provide some guidelines. This study was conducted to evaluate the genetic aspects of expected responses to various MARS methods and to compare the ...

Recurrent and Reciprocal Recurrent Selection in Sugarbeet1
Crop Science, 1978Five cycles of recurrent selection (RS) for general combining ability and two cycles of reciprocal recurrent selection (RRS) in sugarbeet (Beta vulgaris L.) were evaluated. The fifth‐cycle RS synthetic produced significantly less sucrose than its source population, but combined equally as well as its source population with a group of four male sterile ...

Sex selection and recurrence of anencephaly.
International journal of biological research in pregnancy, 1982The case presented here involves recurrent anencephalies and so-called sex selection, a method applied to dispel anxiety about a third pregnancy in a couple free from hereditary predisposition to births with congenital malformation of the central nervous system.
