Water‐saving strategies in rice farming entail cascading effects in prey–predator interactions across ecosystem boundaries

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 9, Page 2273-2282, September 2025.
These results show that introducing multiple drainage periods in rice fields (i.e. AWD) indirectly hampers terrestrial spider reproduction through limiting the emergence of potential preys from the aquatic to terrestrial boundaries. MSD resulted in a more conciliatory strategy as it largely reduces methane emissions and does not affect predator–prey ...

Systematic and taxonomic revision of the genus Austrocactus (Cactaceae) based on morphology and genome wide SNP‐data

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 74, Issue 2, Page 386-416, April 2025.
Abstract The post‐Miocene climatic history of arid environments in South America has been identified as a key driver of dispersal and diversification, particularly among plant groups such as Cactaceae. Despite their iconic status, many cactus genera remain poorly understood, and comprehensive taxonomic and systematic revisions using morphological and ...

A new wild emmer wheat panel allows to map new loci associated with resistance to stem rust at seedling stage

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 18, Issue 1, March 2025.
Abstract Wheat stem rust, caused by Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici (Pgt), is a major wheat disease worldwide. A collection of 283 wild emmer wheat [Triticum turgidum L. subsp. dicoccoides (Körn. ex Asch. & Graebn.) Thell] accessions, representative of the entire Fertile Crescent region where wild emmer naturally occurs, was assembled, genotyped, and ...

Partitioning the effects of habitat loss, hunting and climate change on the endangered Chacoan peccary

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 31, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Aim Land‐use change and overexploitation are major threats to biodiversity, and climate change will exert additional pressure in the 21st century. Although there are strong interactions between these threats, our understanding of the synergistic and compensatory effects on threatened species' range geography remains limited.
