Dynamics and control of a process with recycle streams

open access: yesJournal of Process Control, 1997
Abstract The dynamic behavior and the control of a heating system with recycle streams are analyzed using a nonlinear grey-box model. The analysis led to the conclusion that the system can become unstable at low frequencies. The instability was verified in experiments and possible solutions for this problem are discussed.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Integrating Deconstruction and Recycling Into the Demolition Process in Buffalo, NY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Buffalo’s Comprehensive Plan currently calls for the demolition of 10,000 buildings over a period of ten years. While demolition contractors may recycle a small percentage of the waste created from demolitions, the process generates a great deal of waste

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

On Stability and Controllability of Processes with Internal Recycle

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
In the presented paper dynamic state analysis, stability and controllability aspects of recycle processes are discussed, in general. A comparison of process dynamic behaviour and investigation of influence of process recycle loop parameters are carried out, applying simulation experiments on linear transfer function models.

Differential Item Functioning on the Patient Health Questionnaire 8 by Disease Subtype, Language, Sex, and Age Among People With Systemic Sclerosis: A Scleroderma Patient‐Centered Intervention Network Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Somatic items used in depression assessments can potentially overlap with symptoms related to physical illness, including systemic sclerosis (SSc). No studies have looked at whether somatic depression items may be influenced by diffuse versus limited SSc disease subtypes, which are associated with varying degrees of symptom presentation.

Recycling of mill scale in sintering process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This investigation deals with the effect of replacing some amount of Baharia high barite iron ore concentrate by mill scale waste which was characterized by high iron oxide content on the parameters of the sintering process., and investigation the ...

Recycling of sludge with the Aqua Reci process

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2004
Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) is an innovative and effective destruction method for organics in sewage sludge. The SCWO process leaves a slurry of inorganic ash in a pure water phase free from organic contaminants, which opens possibilities for a simple process to recover components like phosphates and/or coagulants from the sewage sludge, a ...

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Terahertz field enhancement via coherent superposition of the pulse sequences after a single optical-rectification crystal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Terahertz electromagnetic pulses are frequently generated by optical rectification of femtosecond laser pulses. In many cases, the efficiency of this process is known to saturate with increasing intensity of the generation beam because of two-photon ...
