Fast response characteristics of red blood cell aggregation
Biorheology: The Official Journal of the International Society of Biorheology, 2008The present work reports on an important feature of the fast response dynamics of blood flow observed after abrupt changes of the shearing conditions: distinctive peak values in conductance and light reflection/transmission have been observed at short times after the abrupt changes in the shearing conditions and have been ...

Dynamic evaluation of aggregation and agglutination of red blood cells
Biorheology, 1984Viscoelastic evaluation of aggregation and agglutination of red blood cells was attempted. A concentric double cylinder viscoelastometer was used for determining the dynamic rigidity modulus and loss modulus of blood sample. The dynamic rigidity modulus of horse blood were measured over a wide range of hematocrit.

Red blood cells mediate spontaneous aggregation of platelets in whole blood
Atherosclerosis, 1987The influence of red blood cells on spontaneous platelet aggregation (SPA) has been studied ex vivo. Platelet aggregation was quantified by measuring the fall in single platelet count using a new whole blood platelet counter. When aliquots of whole blood and autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) were roller-mixed at 37 degrees C, a marked fall in ...

Physical charaterization of red blood cell aggregation
Modeling of Ultrasound Backscattering by Aggregating Red Blood Cells
2013This chapter provides a review of the last 15 years on the use of quantitative ultrasound (QUS) techniques to characterize red blood cell (RBC) aggregation (i.e., aggregate size, structure and packing organization). The paper focuses on studies aimed at explaining factors affecting the frequency dependent backscatter coefficient (BSC).
