Microfluidic Device for Continuous Magnetophoretic Separation of Red Blood Cells [PDF]

open access: yesDans Symposium on Design, Test, Integration and Packaging of MEMS/MOEMS - DTIP 2008, Nice : France (2008), 2008
This paper presents a microfluidic device for magnetophoretic separation red blood cells from blood under contionous flow. The separation method consist of continous flow of a blood sample (diluted in PBS) through a microfluidic channel which presents on the bottom "dots" of feromagnetic layer.

Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Erythron Changes in Miners with a Different Length of Underground Work

open access: yesОбщая реаниматология, 2012
Objective: to investigate the erythron and hematological reactions in miners in relation to the length of underground work. Subjects and methods. A prospective study of peripheral blood red cell parameters was conducted in 482 miners with an underground ...

A Simulation of Blood Cells in Branching Capillaries [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
The multi-cellular hydrodynamic interactions play a critical role in the phenomenology of blood flow in the microcirculation. A fast algorithm has been developed to simulate large numbers of cells modeled as elastic thin membranes. For red blood cells, which are the dominant component in blood, the membrane has strong resistance to surface dilatation ...

A simplified model for red cell dynamics in small blood vessels

open access: yes, 1998
A simple mechanism for the confinement of red cells in the middle of narrow blood vessels is proposed. In the presence of a quadratic shear, red cells deform in such a way to loose fore-aft symmetry and to achieve a fixed orientation with respect to the ...

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

Comprehensive omics‐based classification system in adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The COMBAT classification system, developed through multi‐omics integration, stratifies adult patients with B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia(B‐ALL) into three molecular subtypes with distinct surface antigen patterns, immune landscape, methylation patterns, biological pathways and prognosis.

Red cell interactions with amyloid-β1–40 fibrils in a murine model

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2005
Vascular amyloidosis in Alzheimer's disease (AD) results in the exposure of red blood cells to β-amyloid fibrils (Aβ). The potential in vivo ramifications of this exposure have been investigated by injecting Aβ1–40 alone or Aβ-bound mouse red blood cells
