Red cell cyanide

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1978
AbstractThe amount of cyanide released on acidifying whole blood was much greater than the total from the plasma and red cells assayed separately, and varied directly with plasma thiocyanate concentrations. This artifactual formation of cyanide by whole blood was reduced by exposure to carbon monoxide.

Sickle cell disease patients with COVID‐19 in Guadeloupe: Surprisingly favorable outcomes

open access: yeseJHaem, 2022
We investigate risk factors for hospitalization and difference between sickle cell syndromes in a cohort of COVID‐19 sickle cell disease (SCD) adult patients managed in the Reference Center of Guadeloupe.

Consensus on Complement Inhibitor Therapy and Management of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria

open access: yes罕见病研究
Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare clonal disease of hematopoietic stem cells caused by mutations in the phosphatidylinositol N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase subunit A (PIGA) gene, may lead to the deficiency of glycosylated ...

A red/far-red light-responsive bi-stable toggle switch to control gene expression in mammalian cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Growth and differentiation of multicellular systems is orchestrated by spatially restricted gene expression programs in specialized subpopulations. The targeted manipulation of such processes by synthetic tools with high-spatiotemporal resolution could ...

The Red Cell

open access: yesMedicine, 2000
Abstract The function of RBCs is to carry haemoglobin around the body in high concentrations such that oxygen is taken up in the lungs and delivered to the tissues. To accomplish this, RBCs have certain physical characteristics requiring energy to maintain them.

Reversibility of Red blood Cell deformation

open access: yes, 2011
The ability of cells to undergo reversible shape changes is often crucial to their survival. For Red Blood Cells (RBCs), irreversible alteration of the cell shape and flexibility often causes anemia.

Drugs for preventing red blood cell dehydration in people with sickle cell disease. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Sickle cell disease is an inherited disorder of hemoglobin, resulting in abnormal red blood cells. These are rigid and may block blood vessels leading to acute painful crises and other complications.

Assessment of vitamin E status in patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome: plasma, plasma corrected for lipids or red blood cell measurements? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: There is some evidence that the plasma vitamin E status is perturbed as part of systemic inflammatory response and correcting this with other plasma markers may not lead to reliable results.

Force balance and membrane shedding at the Red Blood Cell surface

open access: yes, 2006
During the aging of the red-blood cell, or under conditions of extreme echinocytosis, membrane is shed from the cell plasma membrane in the form of nano-vesicles.

Standing-wave-excited multiplanar fluorescence in a laser scanning microscope reveals 3D information on red blood cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Standing-wave excitation of fluorescence is highly desirable in optical microscopy because it improves the axial resolution. We demonstrate here that multiplanar excitation of fluorescence by a standing wave can be produced in a single-spot laser ...
