Hereditary Polytopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Every regular polytope has the remarkable property that it inherits all symmetries of each of its facets. This property distinguishes a natural class of polytopes which are called hereditary.

The VIMOS VLT Deep Survey final data release: a spectroscopic sample of 35016 galaxies and AGN out to z~6.7 selected with 17.5<=i_{AB}<=24.7

open access: yes, 2013
We describe the completed VIMOS VLT Deep Survey, and the final data release of 35016 galaxies and type-I AGN with measured spectroscopic redshifts up to redshift z~6.7, in areas 0.142 to 8.7 square degrees, and volumes from 0.5x10^6 to 2x10^7h^-3Mpc^3 ...

The SDSS Galaxy Angular Two-Point Correlation Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present the galaxy two-point angular correlation function for galaxies selected from the seventh data release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The galaxy sample was selected with $r$-band apparent magnitudes between 17 and 21; and we measure the ...

Liver Stiffness Directs Intrahepatic Cholesterol Accumulation Through YAP/TAZ in Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liver stiffness promotes intrahepatic cholesterol accumulation by repressing LXRα through YAP/TAZ activation. Stiff matrices impair cholesterol efflux in hepatocytes, while YAP/TAZ deletion restores LXRα activity and prevents cholesterol‐induced fibrosis.

Genetic, clinical and imaging implications of a noncompaction phenotype population with preserved ejection fraction

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
IntroductionThe genotype of symptomatic left ventricular noncompaction phenotype (LVNC) subjects with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and its effect on clinical presentation are less well studied. We aimed to characterize the genetic,

Identification of noise artifacts in searches for long-duration gravitational-wave transients

open access: yes, 2012
We present an algorithm for the identification of transient noise artifacts (glitches) in cross-correlation searches for long O(10s) gravitational-wave transients.

Raising rare disease awareness using red flags, role play simulation and patient educators: results of a novel educational workshop on Raynaud phenomenon and systemic sclerosis

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases, 2020
Background As lack of awareness of rare diseases (RDs) among healthcare professionals results in delayed diagnoses, there is a need for a more efficient approach to RD training during academic education.

Chronic Hypoxia Disrupts Spermatogenesis Through ASXL2–EZH2–Mediated Microtubule Destabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the mechanism by which chronic hypoxia impairs spermatogenesis via the ASXL2–EZH2 axis, hindering the transition of spermatids from round to elongated forms. Key findings reveal that under hypoxic conditions, downregulated ASXL2 expression reduces EZH2 binding to the CEP162 promoter, leading to decreased H3K27me3 modification and ...

Red flags to suspect inborn errors of immunity in patients with autoimmune diseases

open access: yesBiomédica: revista del Instituto Nacional de Salud
Inborn errors of immunity are monogenic disorders that predispose patients to immune dysregulation, autoimmunity, and infection. Some autoimmune diseases, such as autoimmune cytopenias, systemic lupus erythematosus, and inflammatory bowel diseases, are ...

Low Back Pain in the Emergency Department: Prevalence of Serious Spinal Pathologies and Diagnostic Accuracy of Red Flags - A Systematic Review.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medicine, 2019
BACKGROUND Very little evidence is available on the prevalence of serious spinal pathologies and the diagnostic accuracy of red flags in patients presenting to the emergency department (ED).
