Regulation of GnRH and its receptor in a teleost, red seabream

2002
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the regulations of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and its receptor in a teleost, red seabream. The chapter aims to reveal the mechanisms underlying the regulation of the synthesis and release of GnRH to help solve several basic and practical problems in fish reproductive physiology and aquaculture, such

Physiological roles of FSH and LH in red seabream, Pagrus major

Fish Physiology and Biochemistry, 2003
The duality of gonadotropins (GTHs), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), has been confirmed in most teleost species, but very little is known about their biological functions. To elucidate the physiological roles of FSH and LH in fish reproduction, the expression profiles of GTH subunit genes during gonadal development were

Chromosome set manipulations and hybridization experiments in gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata). II. Assessment of diploid and triploid hybrids between gilthead seabream and red seabream (Pagrus major)

Journal of Applied Ichthyology, 2002
The experiments were designed to evaluate the suitability for mariculture of the diploid and triploid hybrids of gilthead seabream Sparus aurata and red seabream Pagrus major, both of which are members of the Sparidae family. Performance testing of the hybrids was carried out in comparison with the parental species under the same controlled environment.

Waterborne copper disrupts circadian rhythm in red seabream (Pagrus major)

Biological Rhythm Research, 2017
AbstractWe investigated the effect of copper (Cu) on circadian rhythms in red seabream, Pagrus major, under various concentrations of Cu (10, 20, 30 and 40 μg/L). To examine variability in circadian rhythms, we measured changes in the period 2 (Per2), cryptochrome 1 (Cry1), serotonin and arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase (AANAT2) proteins.

Red (=blackspot) seabream (Pagellus bogaraveo) in Subareas VI, VII, and VIII

2022
ICES advises on the basis of precautionary considerations that thereshould be no directed fishery and bycatch should be minimized. ICES recommends the establishment of a recovery plan for the stock.

Immunocytochemical Localization of IGF-I in the Ovary of the Red Seabream, Pagrus major

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1995
There are many biochemical and molecular biological data indicating that IGF-I is present in teleost fish. The present study examines red seabream for the presence and cellular distribution of IGF-I in the ovarian follicles during oocyte growth and final maturation of oocytes by immunocytochemistry.

Production of biologically active red seabream gonadotropins in a baculovirus system

2008
To obtain a large amount of biologically active fish gonadotropins (GtHs), recombinant red seabream GtHs were produced using a baculovirus expression system. Using a dual vector expression strategy, heterodimeric GtHs were successfully produced in silkworm larvae.

Bacterial Pathogens in Cultured Red Progy (Pagrus pagrus) and Common Seabream (Pagrus major)

2018
