Autoantibodies unmasked by redox reactions
Journal of Autoimmunity, 2005Blood from healthy donors was found to contain a variety of autoantibodies after being cultured overnight in commercial blood culture bottles. Paradoxically some autoantibodies in the blood of patients with autoimmune diseases were no longer detectable when similarly cultured.

This chapter analyses redox reactions. It explains that the oxidation–reduction reactions of transition metal complexes proceed via two primary mechanistic pathways: outer and inner sphere reactions. An outer sphere mechanism occurs when an electron is transferred between two coordination complexes in solution, both of the coordination spheres remain ...

The Biochemistry of Redox Reactions
2000Redox reactions are present in many physiological processes. Chemical and heat energy are provided by the oxidation of molecules by oxygen in many species. Although necessary to life, oxygen molecules can produce reactive molecules leading to diseases. Other reactive species including free radicals are also responsible for pathological states.

Mushroom‐Mediated Redox Reactions
Chemistry – A European JournalAbstractThe application of biocatalysts in organic synthesis has grown significantly in recent years, and both academia and industry are continuously searching for novel biocatalysts capable of performing challenging chemical reactions. Mushrooms are a rich source of ligninolytic and secondary metabolite biosynthetic enzymes, and therefore were ...
