Substituent Effects on Cyanine Dyes Vary with Position and Chain Length

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
In cyanines, substituent effects vary as a function of substituent position and cyanine length. Electron‐donating‐ and ‐withdrawing groups at meso‐ and α‐positions of 4n+1/4n−1 long cyanines (n = 1, 2, 3…) cause opposing, hypsochromic and bathochromic shifts of the 1st UV–vis absorption bands.

Metal‐Metal‐π Interaction: A Pathway to Construct Organic–Inorganic Excited‐State and Supramolecular Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
An organic–inorganic mixed excited state is designed and demonstrated by combining the metal–metal and π–π interactions within a supramolecular Pt2–pyrene assembly. Directional orbital overlap between the Pt and carbon atoms gives rise to a long‐lived triplet emission, strong emission polarization, exciton–exciton annihilation, and efficient exciton ...

IRMaGiC: Extending Luminous Red Galaxy Selection into the Infrared with Joint Rubin Observatory's Large Survey of Space Time and Roman's High Latitude Imaging Survey

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
We introduce IRMaGiC, an algorithm built on RedMaGiC designed to enhance the selection of Luminous Red Galaxies (LRGs) across the redshift range $1 \leq z \leq 2$. We show that this method extends the capabilities of the RedMaGiC algorithm by applying it

Molecular Appendix Adjusted Architectural Propagations of Red‐Light Controlled Macroscopic Photoactuating Performances

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic chloroazobenzenes, bearing different amino acids as end groups alanine, phenylalanine, and valine, exhibit excellent photoisomerizations. Varying structures of three amino acid groups participate in supramolecular formations and therefore photoinduced morphological transformations via adjusting intermolecular interactions. These interaction

Simulating Continuum-based Redshift Measurement in the Roman’s High Latitude Spectroscopic Survey

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We investigate the capability of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope’s (Roman) Wide-Field Instrument G150 slitless grism to detect red, quiescent galaxies based on the current reference survey.

Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum for Image Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum (SHWB), a rotation‐ and translation‐invariant descriptor that captures higher‐order (phase) correlations in signals, is introduced. Combining wavelet scattering, bispectral analysis, and group theory, SHWB achieves interpretable, data‐efficient representations and demonstrates competitive performance across texture,

Characterizing the Roman Grism Redshift Efficiency of Type Ia Supernova Host Galaxies for the High-latitude Time-domain Survey

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The High-latitude Time-domain Survey (HLTDS) for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (Roman) will discover thousands of high-redshift Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) to set generation-defining cosmological constraints on dark energy. To construct the Roman

Photonic Time Crystals and Time‐Varying Electromagnetic Metamatter: A New Direction for Ultrafast Tunable Photonic and Microwave Materials and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...

Axial F–Bi–Ov Electron Pump Drives Continuous Reconfiguration of Bi Sites for Efficient Photocatalytic N2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Axial Fluorine and Light‐Induced Oxygen Vacancies Synergize as an Electron Pump to Lower N2 Activation Energy and Enable Sustained NH3 Synthesis on FBWO. ABSTRACT The electronic structure precision of single‐atom catalysts (SACs) represents a decisive factor limiting advancements in photocatalytic nitrogen reduction (NRR) efficiency.

A test for the redshift dependence of $$\sigma _8$$ σ 8 using $$f\sigma _8$$ f σ 8 measurements

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We search for a redshift dependence of $$\sigma _8^0$$ σ 8 0 using 23 growth rate measurements from redshift space distortions and peculiar velocity measurements as a consistency check of $$\Lambda $$ Λ CDM.
