Probabilistic Forward Modeling of Galaxy Catalogs with Normalizing Flows

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Evaluating the accuracy and calibration of the redshift posteriors produced by photometric redshift (photo- z ) estimators is vital for enabling precision cosmology and extragalactic astrophysics with modern wide-field photometric surveys.

Periodicities of Quasar Redshifts in Large Area Surveys [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
We test the periodicity of quasar redshifts in the 2dF and SDSS surveys. In the overall surveys redshift peaks are already apparent in the brighter quasars. But by analyzing sample areas in detail it is shown that the redshifts fit very closely the long standing Karlssson formula and strongly suggest the existence of preferred values in the ...

Acid/Base‐Responsive Circularly Polarized Luminescence Emitters with Configurationally Stable Nitrogen Stereogenic Centers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Circularly Polarized Luminescence (CPL) emitters based on Tröger's base analogues bearing two peripheral fluorophores (anthracene, pyrene or 9,9‐dimethylfluorene) are prepared following a straightforward and versatile synthetic approach from common precursors.

Redshift of photons penetrating a hot plasma [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
A new interaction, plasma redshift, is derived, which is important only when photons penetrate a hot, sparse electron plasma. The derivation of plasma redshift is based entirely on conventional axioms of physics. When photons penetrate a cold and dense plasma, they lose energy through ionization and excitation, Compton scattering on the individual ...

Scaling Up Purcell‐Enhanced Self‐Assembled Nanoplasmonic Perovskite Scintillators into the Bulk Regime

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a scalable approach to enhancing bulk scintillators using nanoplasmonics. By integrating 100‐nm silver nanoparticles with perovskite scintillator nanocrystals in a polymer matrix, significant improvements in light yield and decay rates via the Purcell effect are achieved.

Detection of gamma-ray burst Amati relation based on Hubble data set and Pantheon+ samples

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Using gamma-ray bursts as standard candles for cosmological parameter constraints rely on their empirical luminosity relations and low-redshift calibration.

Glaphene: A Hybridization of 2D Silica Glass and Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
‘Glaphene’, a novel hybrid material combining 2D silica glass and graphene, is synthesized via a scalable liquid precursor‐based vapor‐phase growth. This study reveals interlayer hybridization beyond van der Waals interactions, leading to emergent semiconducting behavior.

Electrostatic time dilation and redshift

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
We first present the salient features of the gravitational time dilation and redshift effects in two ways; by considering the oscillation frequencies/rates of clocks at different heights/potentials and by considering the photons emitted by these clocks ...

Flaring γ-Ray Emission from High Redshift Blazars

open access: yesGalaxies, 2016
High redshift blazars are among the most powerful objects in the Universe. Although they represent a significant fraction of the extragalactic hard X-ray sky, they are not commonly detected in γ-rays. High redshift ( z > 2 ) objects represent
