Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

CAR BODY ROOF CROSS MEMBER GRAVITY DEFORMATION ANALYSIS AND STRUCTURE OPTIMIZATION BASED ON OPTISTRUCT (MT)

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2022
Car body gravity deformation analysis by finite element method, and roof cross members are easy to have big gravity deformation. By researching on the relationship between gravity deformation and part thickness, camber, rib shape, it can be concluded ...

Lung diffusing capacity for nitric oxide in space: microgravity gas density interactions

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2023
Introduction: During manned space exploration lung health is threatened by toxic planetary dust and radiation. Thus, tests such as lung diffusing capacity (DL) are likely be used in planetary habitats to monitor lung health. During a DL maneuver the rate

Generalized Wick transform in dimensionally reduced gravity [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2003
In the context of canonical quantum gravity, we study an alternative real quantisation scheme, which is arising by relating simpler Riemannian quantum theory to the more complicated physical Lorentzian theory - the generalised Wick transform. On the symmetry reduced models, homogenous Bianchi cosmology and 2+1 gravity, we investigate its generalised ...

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Combustion of Methanol Droplets in Air-Diluent Environments with Reduced and Normal Gravity

open access: yesJournal of Combustion, 2012
Reduced and normal gravity combustion experiments were performed with fiber-supported methanol droplets with initial diameters in the 1 mm size range. Experiments were performed with air-diluent mixtures at about 0.101 MPa and 298 K, where carbon dioxide,

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Neuronal Activity in the Subthalamic Cerebrovasodilator Area under Partial-Gravity Conditions in Rats

open access: yesLife, 2014
The reduced-gravity environment in space is known to cause an upward shift in body fluids and thus require cardiovascular adaptations in astronauts. In this study, we recorded in rats the neuronal activity in the subthalamic cerebrovasodilator area (SVA),

Analytical Study on Gas-Oil Separation of a Heat Pump System under Lunar Gravity

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
A heat pump in the aerospace industry can significantly reduce the area of radiator by elevating the rejection temperature. Especially for a Lunar base, the heat pump can improve the heat rejection capability of the thermal control system to adapt the ...

Crustal structure of the spreading plate boundary in Iceland and the north Atlantic from gravity data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Gravity datasets from two geothermal areas in Iceland, an Iceland-wide gravity dataset, and marine gravity data from the Reykjanes Ridge at 58˚N, which can be seen as the submarine extension of the Icelandic accretionary system, have been studied in this
