Reduced-order models of the Martian atmospheric dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper we explore the possibility of deriving low-dimensional models of the dynamics of the Martian atmosphere. The analysis consists of a Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) of the atmospheric streamfunction after first decomposing the vertical

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Reduced-Order Models and Conditional Expectation: Analysing Parametric Low-Order Approximations

open access: yesComputation
Systems may depend on parameters that can be controlled, serve to optimise the system, are imposed externally, or are uncertain. This last case is taken as the “Leitmotiv” for the following discussion.A reduced-order model is produced from the full-order

ModSCO. Online Reduced Order Models (ROM) to Address the Performance Gap

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
This communication presents ModSCO, a web application that supports systematic energy performance evaluation using Reduced Order Models (ROM). These models are particularly useful in scenario with missing, incomplete or uncertain building information ...

Hybrid Neural Network Reduced Order Modelling for Turbulent Flows with Geometric Parameters

open access: yesFluids, 2021
Geometrically parametrized partial differential equations are currently widely used in many different fields, such as shape optimization processes or patient-specific surgery studies.

A pulse size estimation method for reduced-order models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Model-Order Reduction (MOR) is an important technique that allows Reduced-Order Models (ROMs) of physical systems to be generated that can capture the dominant dynamics, but at lower cost than the full order system.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Design of multivariable feedback control systems via spectral assignment using reduced-order models and reduced-order observers [PDF]

open access: yes
The feasibility of using reduced order models and reduced order observers with eigenvalue/eigenvector assignment procedures is investigated. A review of spectral assignment synthesis procedures is presented.

Reduced order system identification for UAVs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Reduced order models representing the dynamic behaviour of symmetric aircraft are well known and can be easily derived from the standard equations of motion.

Reduced Order Podolsky Model [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Physics, 2016
We perform the canonical and path integral quantizations of a lower-order derivatives model describing Podolsky's generalized electrodynamics. The physical content of the model shows an auxiliary massive vector field coupled to the usual electromagnetic field.
